Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Hey Steve - Saylorsburg Flea Market ?? If so, wow ... I've never seen anything like that there. Super nice vintage Case .... curious, did the seller know what he had, or was it a typical flea market where sellers don't really know the value of what they have & the buyer might come out on the better end ?

Steve, the 2345 1/2 is a nice find. The 45 is a wonderful pattern (IMO) and the slick black seems pretty indestructible.

Yep. I think he is somewhat educated, and he had other knives. I also brought home a Crown Cut that is posted elsewhere, been modded. I left other Case knives there. It isn't all he sells though. Lansky1, no one was more surprised than me to find it there. 'specially on Sunday.

Thanks Ralph. I have a hard time ignoring smooth black Cases. Didn't expect to find the smooth black with virtually zero scratches in it at the flea market.

Well it came in, a week earlier than they predicted. It looks very nice. I had to sharpen it up somewhat, as it had a pretty wild burr on all three blades. Don't think I could shave with it but it does cut rather nicely. It's quite large, maybe should have got the medium, but I really like it and it will get used.
Not sure if I will try and find a sheath for it or just carry it in my pocket along with whatever small change I might have.

Now I just have to discipline myself to hold off on buying any more knives for awhile as my wife is starting to ask questions. ::paranoid::

Sure looks like a Case Folding Hunter even though it has some very curious aspects that don't seem to follow the standard protocol.

Tell her it was either pocket knives or chasing women and you chose pocket knives.

That's really odd because I recently bought a 6207W SS and the covers on it are bone. (same color, same knife except two blades)

Yeah, it is an oddball ... has the "as ground" blade too with the tool marks. Assuming it was a budget version, but will make a good user (funny, I tend to carry my users like this much more - I make a point to carry everything I have, but subconsciously, I'm afraid of carrying my really primo knives)

The 6 in the pattern number can indicate either jigged bone OR jigged Delrin. I wish Case had chosen to use a different number for Delrin so as to be able to distinguish between the two materials. Although easier to tell the difference in person, it causes some confusion when buying a knife online.

Nice little knife John. I had a couple of EZ49 at one point (with EO) and down the road they went. No regrets though.
