Great pics, John!
The composition of the second one is excellent, but I really like the Spyderco fixed-blade in the first.

John, while it is true that the cameras remove a lot of guesswork for us they cannot replace our "eye." Meaning it is the photographer who sees that indeed there is a shot to be had and then composes that shot. Those more advanced than us can manipulate the lighting and so forth, but without that first recognition in the mind's eye nothing is going to happen.

Re: Knives in the Wild
I managed to get some of the colors from the rainbow patina on my Boker medium stockman to show up in photos despite the sun refusing to play ball. There are swaths of blue, grey and red/brown when you catch the light just right on the pile sides of the clip and sheepsfoot blades. Hopefully conditions are better tomorrow...

Re: Knives in the Wild
Great photos guys. So it looks like me and Tsar Bomba were channeling each other's Boker love this week. I had mine in my pocket Friday and headed to work a little early to stop and take a walk through the forest on my way at sunrise. Stopped along the way and took this photo and then had to cut my walk short due to mosquito attacks on my flesh.

That's a fine whittler, sunknife.
I have a recent copperhead with a two-tone grooved bone similar to that knife. The carbon steel Boker is using out of Solingen is really excellent stuff.

Hit the woods for a morning of deer hunting today. Packed this Queen 3L mountain man lock back, unfortunately it wasn't needed for any field dressing chores. Hopefully I'll need it before the seasons over.

Re: Knives in the Wild
sunknife,
That's a great lookin' knife and it will do the job. Your bow and arrow are very interesting. Did you make them and what accuracy do you get with the flint (I suppose) points? When you spear Bambi with that thing, be sure to post it in the Outdoors thread.

Re: Knives in the Wild
Thanks tree farmer. Yes I made the bow and arrows, making primitive bows is a hobby/obsession I've had for 20 years now. I didn't make the arrowhead though, I don't flint knap but have a couple friends who do and send me arrowheads from time to time. The stone points can be
very accurate if mounted properly, the rest is up to the guy with the bow in hand.
I didn't know there was an outdoor forum on AAPK, I'll definitely check that out.
Thanks espn77. On a good day I can't seem to miss a shot, of course thats within a limited range. Then again there are the bad days which happen more often than I care to admit.
