On a different note,the reference knife also has some neet filework done apparently when made,could this have been a salesmans sample?

milled liners are fairly common on old well made quality knives.

That is a very sweet knife you have there, thanks for sharing..Some of my vintage Robesons had milled liners, it really sets the knives apart from the competition of the time.

Like Kaleb mentioned above, here is a milled or coined liner on an old STA-SHARP (between 1927-40).

Like the last one El Lobo posted, yours is a factory milled knife. It's the prelude to all this fancy stuff nowadays.

I'm surprised (maybe someone has) that some of the current factory knife makers haven't done this.

Hmmm very interesting..I wonder if we ever did a forum knife if we could have the liners fileworked..?? It would really give it that heirloom look..
