I've got a 6318 in the same handles. It's an odd one to me because it's the only 6318 stockman I've ever seen without a Turkish clip master blade, and it doesn't have the usual designation Case gives to knives with an alternate style master (c.f. 6233 with California clip master vs. 62033 with 'standard' clip). I briefly assumed that the Pocket Worn branded knives of the time may have been build differently, but I have not found any other instances of this peculiarity to corroborate my assumption. It remains one of those quirky little cutlery mysteries that make the hobby even more fun.

I prefer the clip on the 47 over the clip on the 18, which I prefer over the clips on the mini trappers or tiny toothpicks.

Here's a 6318PU I have with the typical Turkish clip master for this frame. Your 47s have what I call a "standard" Case clip, which is also what I have on my 6318 Pocket Worn red bone stockman. The spine of the blade "clips" off much closer to the tang on the Turkish clip and has a more 'rounded' clip angle than the standard, and the California clip is "clipped" about 1/3rd of the way between the Turkish and standard, with a more pronounced angle. The typical 6254 trapper main blade is a California clip, as are the clips on the Case toothpicks. The clips used on the muskrat and 33 pen/stockman are Turkish clips. The difference between a Turkish and California clip on some size blades might be a matter of judgment, but there definitely seems to be a difference between the typical Turkish profile vs. the typical California profile, even as different as they both are from the standard clip.

That's good information and a good graphic, Jerry. Though I do believe I detect a distinct "Remington" etch on a couple of those blades.

It does seem that Case's "California clip" blade is more or less a hybrid of the traditional muskrat and "tickler"/California clips of old. I've got quite a few Imperials and Camillus fish/toothpick knives with what I personally recognize as a "California clip"; the Case examples have the clip starting much closer to the tang, but not as close as the Turkish clips of yesteryear including some old Delrin muskrats I have.

If you look at early '70s examples of the Case 33 pattern, you will see rounding at the 'clip' that isn't present on later examples designated 033 (when the 33 started to carry the more standard clip profile -- I believe this was some point in the mid-late '70s). The usual 6318 (i.e. every one I've ever seen except for my PW red example) has that same "rounded" style to the master blade, reminiscent of the Turkish profile but not as severely canted -- it reminds me of a straighter version of the old pre-war Camillus Turkish clip and it vanishes in the serpentine frame. Put it next to a medium Texas toothpick or a typical 54 trapper and I imagine you will see plain differences in the profiles.

The 8oty was made only in 1990, as was the 34oty. They are not too common, but they are the same knife as the 881y and 834y. I think they were made to use up the yellow handles of the then discontinued 881y and 834y as they have the open stock shields not old timer ones.

Managed to get these two for under $100 with a big rewards coupon from CK. Hoping for some spectacular bocote grain, GEC hasn't really disappointed on that front.

It's an affliction, I tell ya. For some reason, I just can not walk on by these Camillus 14's. Especially when they are such a good price and look to be in factory condition. There wasn't room in the budget for another knife this month. I'm so weak and such a sucker.
Should be here tomorrow.
