Canal Street Future Knives

Hello everyone, I have been in contact with Canal Street Cutlery about their knives and future planned knives. Mr. Joe Hufnagel (a very nice man) with Canal Street Cutlery gave me a rapid reply about some of my questions and a little insight as to what may be coming from Canal Street Cutlery. He (Mr. Hufnagel) advised me that they were looking at, and highly considering to, offering 1095 & D2 tool steel as well as some other carbon & tool steels (A2 is one) in their blades on several other patterns of their knives that are now only offered in stainless steel. He went on to say that these interests may be swayed by others contacting Canal Street Cutlery and letting them know what steel you want in a knife blade. Canal Street Cutlery wants to make what the costomer wants to buy. I for one sure hope this come to fruit for Canal Street. I know I would be a steady costomer as well as alot of my friends. So, what have you got to lose? E-mail or call Canal Street Cutlery and tell them what you think would make their products the perfect, top of the list, above all other knives. I even asked about maybe offering a large swell center (coke bottle) pattern to their line, Mr. Hufnagel didn't give me any hints about this question though

Would anyone else like to see Canal Street offer a larger selection of steels as well as patterns in their products? I look forward to hearing others opinions on this.

Allthough new knives are not my focus, it would seem different options could increase demand for thier high quality product.The need for variety keeps collectors from being satisfied with just one good knife.

I discovered this thread and was inspired to send an email to CSC. As follows, if anyone is interested:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I read a recent thread on the "All About Pocket Knives" forum wherein one of the members stated that CSC wished to solicit consumer input on steels and patterns.

For myself, I buy knives that I could use if I wished to, rather than showpieces. Not to say that every one of my knives actually gets used or carried, but if I don't consider it a "using" knife I am unlikely to purchase it.

Wich brings me to steels. I am in a minority (perhaps a minority of one) but when I think of knives I would use, they are invariably 1095 carbon steel or one of its variants, or D/A2. So I for one would like to see more knives in these steels. Especially in your existing muskrat - my favorite pattern. I haven't found a muskrat that completely suits me since the demise of Schrade and the 770T.

As to patterns, I think that the knife world much wants for an American-made Sowbelly Stockman in one of the above steels. I'd buy two.

I would also like to see a line of yellow-handled CSC knives in...you guessed it... 1095 or D2. A "working" series, if you will.

Of course, now I'm going to have to put my money where my mouth is and buy one of the already-existing Canal Street Trappers in D2. Pretty sad, eh?

Nice one. Now Dan is getting my hopes up this year talking bout a swell center jack. Shoot, I'd even like a yellow handled swell center jack.
