Cleaver Restoration

Here is a cleaver I just finished restoring for a gentleman. He wanted it brought back into working order so he could use it in the kitchen. He wanted the blade "cleaned up" I saw it as a great opportunity to polish it completely out and make it look as good as possible since it is likely an heirloom. And here I thought polishing out hammers was a chore! It seemed like there was always another 2" that needed polished LOL

Handles are osage orange, hand rubbed mineral oil finish. I chose osage since it's dense, durable, and is water/rot resistant. Should still be on there for generations with proper care.

Nice job. I've got an old one we picked up at an estates sale last year...previous owner was 2nd generation butcher. It's in poor shape, and someone took a grinder to it, not knowing what the heck they were doing. I'll eventuall get to doing something with it, I'm sure. I highly doubt it will look as nice as yours.

That is such a nice job that when you return the cleaver the gentleman will probably think you returned the wrong item. Between that cleaver and the hammer you have done some cool restoration.
