CASE Sambar Stag

Post by leg17 »

Still curious.
How can I know which lines of Case pocketknives have Sambar Stag and which ones have 'European' or other (American?) stag?
I am trying to learn to tell the difference by appearance but is there any way to know what was used in what years or on what lines?
Thanks again
Tom

Thanks Gary,
I am pretty new at knife collecting.
I have already been studying these pictures and find them helpful.
That's why I wonder. For example, the 2005 cigar band XX line supposedly marks the lifting of the Indian ban, but the stag on those few knives I have seen doesn't look like Sambar in these pictures. Looks more like European or something. The late 70's lines, like Razor edge, blue scroll, etc., look like Sambar to me.
(If I knew for sure which was which, I could have a lot more examples to study.)

Is this info not available anywhere?

Is my bad eyesight the only guide I can have?

By the way, I just received a 2007 Prime Stag Trapper and the stag looks like the Sambar in these photos and is REALLY FAT besides.

Thanks for the help.
Anyone else?

Tom
