to see if I'd be interested in conducting another knife review pass! I selected their barlow rosewood and also mentioned I liked the stag version.

I didn't want to be greedy and ask for 2, but they sent 2!

These babies are beautiful.....

Watch for the thread to begin the review pass!
Sure, I'll take a whack at one of them.

Wait a minute. Am I supposed to say that in another thread?

I'll be curious to see how these are. I was drooling over them last week, but was unsure of the quality/performance/etc.

You fish that one out of the bay? If so, it's some solace that someone in the AAPK family got it. I had that lined up with what I thought was a sure thing bid but when I tried to put it through one of those rare times when I used my ipad, the app just...sat there. Grabbed the Android phone, tried again -- same thing. By the time I was able to pull it up on a laptop it was already gone. I was a tad put out, to say the least.

It's even better-looking than the guy's crappy photos hinted at. Nice pickup. I've got next. 8)

Thanks, Tony. Yes, it was one of those rare and totally unexpected instances in which I had put in my top bid and then kind of forgot about it. Then, I just happened to be checking on various lines I had in the water when I noticed that I had been outbid on this one and there was less than one minute remaining in the auction. So, I quickly tossed in one more minimum bid at the buzzer and ended up winning it. Reminded me of the time I was fishing in Wyoming and getting totally skunked. So, I started reeling in my line thinking to call it a day and head back to camp when quite by accident, I snagged a beautiful 10" rainbow trout by the dorsal fin and dragged him in sideways (true story...my line had so much drag on it I thought I was dredging up the entire bottom of the lake!). Sometimes life surprises you with little random moments of unexpected joy. ::ds::

This Walter Bros arrived a couple of days ago. It's 2 1/4" closed, German-made. I love unique bolsters, and as a plus the mother-of-pearl was carved in the same style as the bolsters.

I have to say I don't really remember giving these to my dad, but I guess my writing doesn't lie. I think I may have given him the 2 knives separately. If the year is right, I was still in high school, LOL. Anyway, my mom found them while going through his stuff, and thought I would like to have them back.

I guess I even had his initials put on one of them...

This Camillus #40 half congress arrived today. Nice pocket worn bone. The blades still need more cleaning but they're not that bad and have good W&T.

In 1986 Herman Williams made sixty 858OT's with 5 blades for the Catawba Valley Knife Club. About a year and a half ago I saw a picture of one of these 858OT's and have wanted one ever since. Today's mail brought this beauty. It measures right at 1-1/8" wide.

I guess that I should add that this is not one of the 60 that was made for the club...This one is fresh out of Herman's shop. When he made the club's knives, he had all of Schrade's resources at hand. On this one he had to hand file and krink all the blades to fit, along with the back springs, liners etc. He started with a 858OT that I sent him, re-profiled 2 additional 858OT secondary blades and went from there.

Dale, I just might have to build it's own frame...It would have to be a little deeper than the others.

A year ago Herman fixed up a 14OT that was made for Walker Muffler with wood handles with no bolster. I finally found the right 13OT (no pitting and a reasonable price) and asked Herman to give it the same treatment. It also showed up today, along with a 863 in Torched Stag...felt like Christmas morning.

Jerry, this one will never see any pocket time.
