Case Sunfish Question

I see this so called Tested XX three blade "sleaveboard" sunfish today, but I just wasn' sure if it was the real thing. Had a sunfish on the master blade, but this thing was a whittler sytle. Some what clean but had been used slightly. Long tail C. Could it have been REAL? Wish I had a picture, but no camera with me. Anyone have a thought on it. NO pattern number either. Nice bone rogers bone handles and bow tie style shield. Pinned not glued.???? thoughts

its been a while and im not sure but i think i saw one a while back on ebay but if im not mistaken, the one i saw was a case classic but again, im not sure. i sure wish you had a picture of it tho, i would like to see it. wish i could be more help but maybe someone will be.

Sounds like you've described a Bulldog Brand with the exception of Whittler style and Case long tail C. Could Jim Parker have had some made when he owned both Case and Bulldog?

I decided to pass on it. If it smells funny at first, it ususally doesn't get better unless you convince your mind that your nose is wrong. Which most of the time it isn't. THanks guys. I think I saved myself embarassment, after all that's what this site is for. Great help

No Case knife has ever had a sunfish etch (unless Parker did it on the Case Classics, which i dont believe is true). But certainly no older Case knife ever did. "Sunfish" is a modern collector name coined in the 1960's.

Other than for special order like advertising knives and company safety awards, no Case (made by WR Case & Sons) pocket knife ever had a blade etch prior to the 5172 Bulldog introduced in the early 1960's. There was never any XX, Tested, or older knife made with an etched blade. Parker brought out blsde etchings for the older stampings in the Case Classics, but these were pure fantasy, which is what he intended anyway.
