Fraudulent Credit Card purchases...
Has anyone ( dealers , that is ) been the target of thieves in the last several days ???
I have been targeted by a group of middle-Eastern credit card thieves by them submitting several HUGE orders . These guys are apparently very good at their trade. On one $5000.00 order it only took them 224 attempts to crack a certain card number......dealers are charged a fee for every failed attempt. This can really add up.
The card companies were first made aware of this and contacted me just before close of business on 12-31-07. I have not shipped these most recent orders....but that does not make me any less liable for the $3000.00 plus I shipped about 10 days ago. That one is just gone like a fart in a windstorm.......I will be hit with a charge back soon.
Moral of this story ......try to curtail the joy when that next big order comes in, especially one that is out-of-country. My stupidity has just cost me big time ...bet it will not happen again !!!

Sorry to hear that Bill. Being that is is the Middle East the credit card companies won't be looking very hard since they have you to hold accountable. It may be that it's coming from an Eastern Bloc country like Romania that has a large population of computor programmers and security training BUT no jobs. I have heard some incredible things these groups have done - EVEN holding the FBI at a $5,000,000 ransom for data. That group however made JUST ONE mistake that allowed them to be caught.
Sorry to hear it, I'll spread the word.
