Don't get dollar signs in your eyes just yet Tommy. I think he has it priced about double the top end. But then I live at a lower economic level than most so I'm seeing it with different eyes.

That's the same one we saw earlier. It's already gone through one listing with no sale but it looks like he's sticking with his price.carrmillus wrote:...I'm still wondering about the difference in the handles??...........jerryd6818 wrote:Don't get dollar signs in your eyes just yet Tommy. Since Jerry & Co. basically have us neophyte #72 collectors boxed out as far as the first-gen old bone beauties go, I've decided to try and focus on a more eclectic subset of #72s. This one arrived today:

Tsar Bomba, from one neophyte to another, I think Jerry would consider that one a "clone" and would be acceptable.
Nice one.

If memory serves, and often it does not, that isn't a clone. It's a real deal Camillus SFO made for Wards.

You're already on the payroll Tommy. In fact, you are probably the CEO since you were probably collecting these before I even knew what a "Camillus" was.carrmillus wrote: ........"jerry & co."- I like that!!!....how do we get on the payroll, jerry????............................................
Tony, I do consider it a very acceptable "clone" since it was made by Camillus.SolWarrior wrote:Tsar Bomba, from one neophyte to another, I think Jerry would consider that one a "clone" and would be acceptable.Nice one.
Edit: and then I saw the post that Cuz made and realized that was more accurate than what I had to say.

Tony, I think "Jerryd and Co." Is actually more akin to "Robin and his Merry Men" and we'really not really sure which one is Robin. So far the only payroll I have seen is what you can manage to "steal" of of eBay as most of us are pretty much bottom feeders.

Not going to be Delrin Greg. That knife was made in the 1940s, long before Delrin was patented much less produced. In fact I'm surprised the handles are not bone. Good looking knife though. It's a winner.

Nice catch Greg! I'm with Jerry. I have one just like it. Short line. Black with no shield. So I took a closer look with my loop and it sure looks like bone to me! Can't wait to you get it home and let us know what you have!

That's good news Jerryd! I won it for $17,50 which was covered by my ebay bucks ,so I got it for free.jerryd6818 wrote:Not going to be Delrin Greg. Re: camillus #72
Randy, If you're talking about Greg's knife, it's not bone. It's that black synthetic that was more stable than Shrinky Dink and used up into the '60s.
Nice price Greg and "free" is even better.

Re: camillus #72
Jerry I stand corrected sir!
I guess I can't trust my eyes, even with a loop! So I put mine under my field "monoscope". Its a students microscope used to study rocks. so I put it under the scope and I still had to do some looking. Wished I could take a pic through the scope. Right around the pivot pin pocket brought the facts to light. Too smooth to be bone! Sorry if I got your hopes up Greg...

Ain't no thing Randy. From what I can tell from the pictures, it's still a great knife.

Re: camillus #72
Here is a Camillus #72 i just won: Delrin, BSA shield, half saber grind and clip blade secondary opposite end from master.
Odd patina/staining on master blade but otherwise looks good. Would you say $26 is about right for this knife ? There has been a lot of 72 buying action recently so likely price ranges for each 'generation' are getting established.
