Well spring is in the air and so is the perfume of Orange Blossoms here in Central Florida as we ready for Valencia harvest next week, but for me it's Trapper time as well as Spring time.

Can you tell I kind of favor Trapper style pocket knives, especially those exotic models with lots of blades that should not be there... :P

stag trapper with CV?

I have just started getting a few knives and the knives that I like the best happen to be the Case Trapper in CV. I wanted to ask the question to anyone who knows if Case still uses stag for the handle of the trapper, and if that knife has CV steel...

hi,

case rarely uses genuine stag anymore after 2000. they have gone to bone stag which is a bone handle treated to look similar to the genuine stag. as for the cv blades, some of the bone stags may have them, but i think all the genuine stags would have ss blades. i may be wrong tho.

Do you want to see something weird...At least in the proper order of things...This is what I use everyday at work..LoL, this keeps my oranges on their toes knowing that their is always a replacement right around the corner... :mrgreen:

Compliments to Agteacher2 (Jeff) and his ability to put all kinds of great stuff on certain knife handles...

Im new to the forum......and bought my first pocket knife in 20 years today....via a gift certificate. It happens to be a Case Trapper Amber. The style of the knife just seemed to speak to me. :D As my post in the intro section, Im just overwhelmed at the following for pocket knives. I think I feel a new hobbie over taking my psyche.

Welcome to All About Pocket Knives mulegunner....I think you will enjoy the bunch here, they are some of the best group I have experienced on the web. And if you want to learn more about the hobby and share others experience in knife collecting you have come to the right place.


There is a down side to coming here and that is any spark of interest in pocket knives is magnified and you find yourself purchasing knives of all makes and designs. :P

HEY, Mulegunner is from Pa so he has to be good. Welcome. I have to say that trappers are one of my top three choices for patterns. Whittlers are on the same level. Hey about some pics of whittlers guys???? :wink:

My current avatar is my favorite trapper. :mrgreen:

However, here are a couple of Schrade trappers.....

A 194OT (single blade liner lock) and a 296 WC (wood scales in crimson birch)...just to add to the mix.

Great looking knives I only wish that they were up there in my picture instead... :evil: :wink:


Everytime I think I have seen a great knife that cannot be matched in looks and quality I am proven wrong again...Thanks for sharing...

I looked through all these beauties again..... ::tu::

And since I didn't see one with a saw blade...let's try one.
This knife was purported to be NEW/OLD STOCK. I think it is probably a reproduction. I picked it up just because it was cool looking.

Seems like most everybody likes the trappers. These are my Case Classics. Thought maybe you could see them better like this. The only production handles are the stag and the green bone. There were 1,000 of each made. The rest of these are prototypes and very short runs...

Yes, they are all nice trappers here. I like the ones with saw blades, I never seen those before.
Here's my three trappers. 2004 CCC Regular member,'05 Navy blue, '04 PW Caribbean blue.

Great trappers everyone ::tu:: Seems to be very popular. I haven't seen many Henckels knives here so I have include one along with the mini Case. :) s-k.
