CASE USA 6265SAB QUESTION...WOOD OR BONE??

I JUST PICKED THIS UP,IS THE HANDLES ON THIS WOOD OR BONE??IN THE BOOK IT LISTS A LAMINATED WOOD HANDLE...BUT I DONT THINK THEY WOULD JIG A WOOD HANDLE???THE AUCTION DESCRIBED IT AS BEING RED JIGGED BONE???I WILL POST A FEW PICS,THANKS DAVE....SCANS CAN BE CLICKED ON AND MAGNIFIED. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!!!

I think you have laminated wood there JR. Of course I could be wrong, most times I am. BTW, what year make is that Case?

ITS 1965-1969 CASE XX USA NO DOT...THEY JIGGED WOOD???ITS MY FIRST CASE SAB AND ITS A BRUTE OF A KNIFE...WEIGHT AND QUALITY IS JUST BEUTIFUL,YOU CAN REALLY FEEL THE QUALITY AND WORKMANSHIP OF IT IN YOUR HANDS.I JUST DIDNT KNOW THEY WOULD HAVE JIGGED LAMINTED WOOD HANDLES??THANKS DAVE

from what i can tell in the pic, it looks like jigged wood handle to me too. yes, they do make jigged wood. i have the same pattern in a 1970 model in my collection that is jigged wood and had a 65-69 also a while back that i sold with wood handle also. the elephants toe and large coke bottles are a couple of other patterns that come to mind that are also made with jigged wood handles.

THANKS GUYS FOR THE CLARIFICATION ON THIS KNIFE....HMMM I PAID $30SHIPPED FOR THIS KNIFE,SO I GUESS NOT TOO BAD??BUT THE PROBLEM WHICH IS COMMON ON EBAY IS THE AUCTION DESCRIPTION DESCRIBED THIS AS BEING RED JIGGED BONE,I CHECKED THE SELLERS PAST AUCTION WINS(AFTER THE FACT)AND SURE ENOUGH THERE IT WAS,WON LESS THAN 2 MONTHS PRIOR...THE SELLER HAD IT LISTED CORRECTLY AS BEING JIGGED WOOD HANDLE.SO I DONT KNOW WEATHER TO LIST THAT IN MY FEEDBACK ON THE AUCTION.WAS THIS AN ATTEMPT TO DECEIVE??BUT AGAIN I ONLY PAID $30 SHIPPED FOR IT,AND ON MY PART I WAS A FOOL TO THINK I COULD GET A BONE HANDLES SAB FOR THAT COST:(LET ME KNOW WHAT YA"LL THINK ABOUT THE WHOLE FEEDBACK THING.THANKS HAPPY 2008!!!!

by what you say, it does sound like the seller knew what he really had but probably thought by listing it as bone, he would get a better price which was decieving in my opinion.

im sure most of the members here at some time or another have probably found themselves in the same boat. for example, a while back i bought a knife off ebay from a seller that buys and sells alot of knives and im 99.9% sure he knew what he had but it was a 1970 jack knife that had a poor picture posted of it....blurry and dark but i could make out the oval shield and he listed it as quote......bone or delrin???? in his description but again, i reinterate that he buys and sells alot of case knives. anyway, i knew some of the early 70s delrin knives had the oval shield but i took a chance anyway and bought the knife....luckily at a very good price, probably due to the poor pictures and when i got it, it was delrin instead of bone. luckily it was in near mint condition so i relisted it properly with clear pictures and description and it sold for more than i paid for it so it all worked out. i did not leave feedback for the seller that sold me the knife because i felt he knew and was trying to get a better price but i got my positive feedback from the buyer i sold it to who was pleased and actually got what they wanted.

im not saying what you should do about the feedback, that would be up to you, but alot of the times on ebay, a negative or neutral feedback only gets one in return. if it were me, i would probably email the seller first and tell him that his description was misleading if he stated it as being bone handles and that you wanted to email him and see what he has to say about it before you leave feedback. he may offer a return at no cost to you since it was misleading or may even give you a partial refund to make up for it if you wanted to keep the knife or if you paid by paypal, and the auction was misleading, you can file a dispute and they may refund you and you can return the knife. its hard to say about people but if you arent satisfied, it might be worth a try.

also, i cant tell what kind of condition yours is in, but the 1965-69 wood handle knife lists for about 125.00 in mint condition in the latest edition of parkers price guide and the one i sold was in near mint condition and sold for about 100.00 and that was listed honestly as jigged wood with clear pictures.......just goes to show, that if you are honest with people you will do much better than by being deceptive.

I agree with Steve on this. His statement sounds the best in this situation. But, that's just my opinion too.

I think Steve said it best-----When it's ALL SAID and DONE-a Negative on your part to the SELLER-will get you the SAME--and perhap's WORST!(BUT) it's your call!

ILL LEAVE IT AS IT IS...THE SELLER HAS ALREADY LEFT POSITIVE FEEDBACK....2 DAYS BEFORE I RECEIVED THE KNIVES.I HAVE NOT LEFT FEEDBACK AND WONT...ILL JUST KEEP IT IN MIND AND WRITE IN THE SELLER AS DO NOT DEAL WITH .THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR REPLAYS. DAVE HAPPY 2008!!!
