They called it "Bonite."kootenay joe wrote:Joe, the color of the handles on your Ulster Jack look like the material that Schrade/Ulster used briefly before Delrin arrived. If so it would date to late 1950's to ~ 1961 ?. However that 'stuff' usually shrinks and the handle slabs of yours have not so maybe it is an early Delrin with the same dye they had been using before Delrin. kj

Here's what I had in the mail basket when I got home. I've already shown these in other threads but just got my hands on them. Case tested era 6100. The Camillus 72 appeared to have a double sided Sabre grind master in the ebay photo but alas it was a trick of the lighting so she will hit the EDC rotation as will the Case XX2345 1/2.

That's it ! Thank you Cal.
Not a good handle material due to high incidence of shrinking, but helpful in dating as it was only used for a few years.

Yeah Greg, really nice Case Cattle Knife - find I'm getting attracted to that pattern. That's always dangerous for my retirement fund! OH

You will enjoy that Case 6347 - biggest size I like to front pocket carry; the rounded bolsters make it seem much smaller than it is in the pocket. OH

This one is on the way!
I have wanted one of these in good condition for a while now.. These are usually pretty beat up and either have dents, worn blades, or are rubbed out... Though currently - I have been focusing on 'ring turns'.. When a knife seller I deal with emailed me this, as an offer to buy.. I had to grab it!

Did you say ring turners?
Won a giveaway from USA Made Blades Friday and yesterday I received a kitchen cleaver by Dylan Fletcher, a custom Karniboro with natural micarta scales over black micarta liners with black micarta pins and a Full Tang and ground outta 154CM.
The other side has EAT ME laser etched into the side of the blade.

This is the third one I've got in a short amount of time. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite stockman versions, just such a great knife.Old Hunter wrote:You will enjoy that Case 6347 - biggest size I like to front pocket carry; the rounded bolsters make it seem much smaller than it is in the pocket. Is that 47 CV? Jigged amber+CV would be ideal, plus it's the only standard Case stockman pattern I don't have in that combo (yet).

I am only copying and pasting what I have found online about this knife:
Blade Etched On The Front: STAR BRASS MFG CO BOSTON
Blade Etched On The Back: POP VALVES & GAUGES
Tang Stamped On The Front : PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO WALDEN NY
I am sure mine will have the same stamps once I receive it I will know for sure....

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
Another new ring turn on it's way to me... This is a Simonds Worden White 'Hardware' ring turn.. I already have the more common version of this knife. Most are stamped SSW, USA on the blades, with slightly different brass handles and oval style rings. My new one is stamped W.H. Morely & Sons Germany. I believe there are three versions of this knife (hard to find all three) I just purchased this version and now I own two of the three versions. The other two versions have round rings.. as this (my second one has) I will post my own photography once I receive it. Here is the sellers photographs of my new knife.

Hey Scott!
In your latest find, what are the two folders? Can't make out the tangs stamps.
Our weather is awful today, much wind and a little rain, lots of thunder, keep losing the satellite signal.
Looks like I'm a little late on asking about the one on the bottom
.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
My knife acquisitions had to be curtailed a bit lately due to the need to buy a new set of tires for the ole truck. And them Michelins ain't cheap I tell ya! After driving off from the tire shop was thinking, I had only 80k miles on these tires... maybe I could've milked another 10k out of em? I'm mean... that money would've bought a lot of knives! And that vibration I was feeling wasn't all that bad....
Oh well... after begging Paul aka knifeslinger not to bid on this minty Walden 8OT
I was able to squeeze it in the budget this week.
