I have this Case 6244 and one other Case from 1940-64. Both knives have incredible snaps, but they are also very difficult to open. I mean the kind that rips your fingernails off.
I've oiled them with Quick Release several times but they're still very hard. Is there anything else I can do to make these even a bit easier to open?

I carry one of these on my key ring for just such problems. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Case-XX-7585-Kn ... 2162761111. Inexpensive solution!

I've heard if you leave them open for a day or two where the spring is at its most flexed point it will soften the pull. I've never actually tried it myself. I have a 65-69 texas jack that has an absolutely brutal pull on the pen, if your nails aren't short and you don't open it just right it will show you who is boss.
