I saw a Case XX 5488 3 dot(1977 I believe) today that I can get reasonably cheap. The problem is one of the back springs is snapped off in two places. The knife itself is in excellent condition(three of the four blades have never been re-sharpened).
My questions are this:Is there anyone on board here that would be willing to repair it(for compensation of course)or should I send it back to Case?
I'm wondering if it is worth repairing or passing on.I'm not really a big Case collector but it is one I don't have.I'm worried that the other back spring might be equally faulty.
edit:It might be a 6488;my memory isn't too good today. It has synthetic handles.

Well I bought the knife last week and contacted Case about the repair work.Just got an e-mail back stating that as that model is no longer produced, they have no spare parts and cannot repair it.
So is there someone on the forum here who would undertake the repair and if so could I get an approximate price? You can e-mail me at: caption55@yahoo.com or send me a private message here. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I might even attempt the repair myself.
