Camillus or Schrade?

I just purchased this knife, I have not yet received it but would like to know a little bit about it! It looks a little like a schrade 293 but the bone is camillus! It is stamped High Carbon Steel but I know one of these companies made it, i just can't find another on the Web..

High Carbon Steel was a stamp Camillus made for Sears from 1928-1940 (according to the Kastor list)

The saber ground clip blade with the nice swedge is indicative of Camillus although Schrade did make some also. The bone looks like Rogers bone and I think Camillus probably used more of it then Schrade did. Good instinct on the bone though!
To me the knife screams Camillus. It looks like the clip blade is a bit short though, but still a great find and should be an excellent user!

Jerry is absolutely correct; High Carbon Steel was the branding used on a line of knives made by Camillus for Sears, Roebuck and Company.

Here's a pair of schrade 293's for reference. Earlier ones had a saber ground clip and a rat tail bolster, I don't have one of those (very rare!) I would agree with Jerry and Dale, yours is camillus. It's very nice.

Camillus 29. One of my favorites. Bone handles for the older knives and jigged Delrin for the later eras. The twin to it was the 35 which had yellow Delrin handles.

Well I have looked all over for another bone one, and I can't seem to find one with bone handles! Does anyone maybe have one or a picture of one that's marked Camillus?

I think your knife had a "Craftsman Sta-Sharp" etch. Which ebay seller did it come from ? I might know this knife.

Here are 3 knives same as O.P. knife. All are stamped on tang: High Carbon/Steel/U.S.A. All have an etch that includes "Craftsman Sta-Sharp 9474".
These were made by Camillus for Sears in 1930's & '40's.
Unused or lightly used Sta-Sharp knives are not easily come by. Craftsman tools (including knives) were preferred by tradesmen back in that time so most were bought to be used regularly. I believe fewer were bought by the casual knife user.
Yours looks to be a nice example.

Man, those sabre grind blades make a knife special. I wish we saw more of that today.

Jerryd of the ones that I own, those are the ones I cherish most. I think the knife companies would do well to spend a little extra and bring that back into the fold
