CSC Germany

Post by kootenay joe »

Here is a 3 9/16" 4 blade Utility that looks never used. Only the master blade is marked: "CSC" on the front tang and "M6/Solingen/Germany".
Any idea as to which German manufacturer made this ?
Is "CSC" a logo for the manufacturer ? or for the importer or merchant selling them in USA ?

Interesting stamp. Normally when you see letters arranged like that it is referred to as a monogram. The larger center letter is usually the start of a person's last name with the others the first and middle name.In this case it may possibly read with the S standing for Solingen and the C C standing for the company name.

Thank you. that's new info for me.
I looked at all the "C" manufacturers in Anthony Carter's book but no CSC logo is shown. There is an example of "S" for Solingen as you explain with Alex Coppel manufacturer using "ASC" with a Justice Scale.

I have heard it claimed that the CSC stands for Carl Schlieper Cutlery but I never quite bought into that theory. Goins lists it simply as "CSC CO 1945 to 1960, M20 Made in Germany is stamped on the back of the tang." No further comment by Goins.

Thanks Ray. I think Schlieper could be it. Do you have a Schlieper 4 blade Utility that compares to this knife ?

I found this, it may be a possibility as there is CSC and Germany connection to it. Let me know if you think this is a possibility. Link attached:
