old case Hawkbill

I have 2 old Case XX Hawkbill knives, 1 is a red bone handle and I found it in the guide, the other however was my grandfather's and is probably from the 20-40's. It appears the same size and shape as the red bone but the blade has CASE XX on 1 line and USA on the second and it feels like bone but is brown, not red.

It was seldom used and is in better condition than the red bone. Anyone have any idea of it's worth?

I found the blade logo, it is prior to the 20s. The material feels like bone but it could be a dark wood.

Hey Smuth, If your knife has Case XX and U.S.A. under that then it is 1965-1969. If it has dots under the U.S.A. then it was made in the 1970's.

The dark wood does have 5 dots under the USA. The red bone just has CASE on one line and XX on the second. I thought one of those was my grandfather's, I still have 4 more case knives to go through. The wood one looks like:

however it has no metal tag on it and doesn't look like it ever did, that was what confused me.

I have 2 more small knives to look up but they are just smaller knives, 1 is bone and the others are wood handled. I know the bone was my dad's from the 60's. I need to oil them and clean them before I can see the bottom of the blades, 2 are almost too stiff to open, been in a drawer for 20-30 years.

the one that looks like red bone has the stamp for:
1940-1964 (some say 1945 - 1964)

but the price guide lists that model as
1965 - 1969 61011 red bone


So it's possible that this is an older knife and was my grandfather's, I think but how can I know for sure? there are no other markings on the knife and it is very worn.
