Friedrich-Hartkopf knives

I live in Germany, and before I go home I'd like to buy a Solingen pocket knife. I'm looking for a standard jack knife, Stockman. trapper, folder. So far, I've been leaning toward a Hartkopf. Never heard anything bad about them from knife dealers. But I'm still considering other brands like German Bull, Fight'n Roosters, Hen & Roosters, Bulldog,etc. I'd like to know any opinions on how Hartkopf's compare to these other brands and general opinions on Hartkopf's.
I'm a new member here and would appreciate any comments or opinions.

Hi Jdonl,
Your Hartkopf title caught my eye. I do have one Hartkopf & Co.
pen knife that I had Kaleb rehandle for me and polish the blades which were scratched from improper sharpening. The knife itself seems well built to me, but Kaleb probably can assess that better than I.
I also have a Hoppe Gebr that seems well made and an older P.L. Schmidt. The other name brands you mention are better known and well regarded from what I've seen.
I'm sure a better authority than I will be along shortly.


Last shot is one I did inside playing with backlighting which created the Hoppe Bros. MOP on fire, figured someone might get a kick out of it.

yep, the hartkopf was a very well made knife, quite precision and good fit and finish
