Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

I got this one a couple of weeks ago so I thought I would show it.
It is an "Old Red Stockman 6207 SS"
I got it from an antique store. It has the box and all the paperwork.
Anyway..... here it is.....

I just went and found your thread. Interesting!
I see your was made in 2003..... Mine appears to be just one year newer according to the tang stamp.

Mike, yes, I noticed that too. Maybe that shield was used for a couple of years. Whatever the case (pardon the pun), you have a "special" knife there and treasure it. I certainly will treasure mine. The smallest of things bring people together.

I fell into this beauty through no skill of my own, just pure blind luck. Well, I did have enough sense to buy it.

Yes, it's an 82053 with CV blades, 1940-1964.

That is what I was thinking as far as model number. I have no books on me now but I cant recall if they made a shadow (like your knife with no bolsters) and a model with bolsters also. I think they did. Comments based on memory. Regardless, great little knife.

Thanks Jerry. Yes I think they made bolstered and shadow versions. Apparently the SS version is a little more common than this CV version. As I said, blind luck. I got it in a local pawn shop, and I'd be VERY unpopular with y'all if i told you what I paid for it. ::tu::

Case tested 63087

Very fine knife, can't find them nicer anyways.

Don't care much for smaller patterns, but here is another exception.

I will be collecting smaller rough black now since my collection is hitting a dead end hunting big fish, with hefty price tags

Ain't that the truth Keith. No worries about a clunker coming from The Cattle Knife Ranch! Did you notice the steel liners on this and no shield? I think this may have been made at the beginning of WWll. A transition knife of sorts in to the XX era.
