Two to ponder "Battle Axe"?

Here are two I am somewhat confused about. The tangs are marked Ky. Cutlery Association and the seller states Battle Axe. Are these actually a Parker creation or are they Shouse and Hardin Battle Axe brand.

Greg, i do not know the answer, but does it matter ?
This is a knife made in Germany late 20th century when a great many knives with a variety of tang markings were made. Decent knives but they have no special collectibility because they are not part of a group or series, just a bunch of 'one off' knives runs.
They could fit in with those who collect by patterns like "Sleeveboard Whittlers" for this Pearl one you posted. Regardless they are not high value knives. I buy this type of knife at times because i like the look of a certain knife and the price can be a 'good deal'.

I have been told by someone knowledgeable that those were made in the Olbertz factory in Germany and imported by John W Hickey & sons of Louisville Kentucky. I have one and it has the finest MOP of any that I own.

Mel he was an associate of Shouse and Hardin. I think he threw in with Shouse after Hardin left. Are you familiar with the Ky. Cutlery Association and do you know if Mr. Hickey was connected with it?

No, I have no knowledge about either. My understanding is that Olbertz also made Fight'n Rooster and Bulldog brand knives, and I would say that the Kentucky knife is comparable quality to those brands based on the knives I own.

Kentucky Cutlery is a club in Louisville ky. Most of their club knives were pearl and were Fight'n Rooster knives. A few were marked Battle Axe and were imported by Hickey and Tommy Shouse. Yes they were made at the Olbertz factory. They are very comparable with the Fight'n Rooster pearls.

Thanks Tom! That Olbertz factory really put out some good looking knives. I guess that's why everybody and his brother had them made there.

I think Tommy Shouse was from Winston-Salem, NC.
