Post by jonet143 »

asdvertised at one of the big case seller' sites as a 40-64 62131. $800.00 is the aslking price. check out the etch(canoe?). what am i missing? 1974 is when case started etching the canoe(not that etch).

The bone appears re-colored; strange knife!

An example of an "at a glance" fake...not even close to reality. Was this on a knowledgable Case dealers site?

Totally different, tooling, bone coloring, bone jigging, tang stamp, and blade etch as compared to a real Case canoe. Nothing about it even resembles a real Case canoe.

As an aside, yes the Case canoe blade etching was started in 1974.

Another aside, the XX stamped 62131 is REALLY rare, Case made the 52131 throughout the XX years but only started making the 62131 a bit before the stamping change in 1965, so the XX 62131 is one of those legendary RARE knives that only a few authentic ones were actually made.
