Knife Storage Wrapping

Hello everyone!
I am new to the forum and learned much about knives here. I would like to know what to wrap knives in.
Today in a price guide I read that paper towels have acid in them and almost just like leather will even attack stainless.
I have them all wrapped in paper towels. I need to re-wrap but with what?

There's lots of answers to this but if you want paper try acid free tissue from a craft store or small print shop.
Wax paper has been used.
Lots of guys use Ren-wax [some say don't use any wax] but it doesn't answer your question, what to store them in.

Hi Buck. to the forum.

You might try to dig up some acid free tissue paper. That is what I use. I bought mine off the internet. Or with all the scrapbookers out there nowadays they probably have something acid free at a craft supply store in your area.

The acid free paper may be the best option but there are some bags or 'socks' made from soft cloth that can be purchased at various sites.
My wife, being the dutiful little helper that she is , makes mine. Actually, I do the cutting and such and she does the sewing. Almost any CLEAN cotton material will do. I have used everything from old Tee Shirt material (which is too thin) to some of the kids old pajamas. The felt like materials suit me the best and I have even bought some at a cloth store just for that purpose. With each knife tucked away in the little 'sock', I put them in wooden cigar boxes for storage in the safe, or where ever.

Hello again and thanks for you repyls. I do like the idea about wax papper does any one have a reply about over the counter wax papper vs acid free tussue. for kninife storage?

i think acid free paper is better than wax. wax, will transfer to the knife. and i don't think the wax impregnated paper is acid free. i have a large roll of acid free rice paper. it's great for all needs.

Hey Ya'll,
I have several of the old partitioned flannel cloths that vintage silver flatware was stored in back in the day. Some of it I think is Pacific cloth that resists tarnish on silver. I've been thinking of putting some of my knives (no celluloids) in that for storage. What do you think?
