Buhl Sons Co., Detroit Mich
Here's a nice old Buhl Sons swell center jack that has a few miles on it. They were a hardware in Detroit.
No attempt was made to grind the springs to the liners which are just shy of the springs. A money saving measure I guess.
A well made knife with good springs, half stops and no wobble. 3 3/4". Not a stamp you will see often.
Thanks for looking.

No idea on who made it, but all of the Buhl and Sons knives I've seen seem to be of high quality.

S-L-I-C-K. Man that's a good looking knife. Half-stops and no blade wobble? That's like winning the Sweepstakes!!

What a beautiful knife! Is the wood really as orange-ish red as it appears in the pics? Fine old piece of cutlery there...

I like that one a lot. What's the closed length of it? Looks like Osage handles to me. I've got a Colonial with the unfinished liners/ backsprings.

Thanks, Mike - XX Case XX. It's true, there is a lot of wobble out there.
Mike - 313 Mike, thank you, actually I had my camera adjusted for some other shooting and it did affect the color of those knife handles.
I toned the camera down and took another picture. Glad you mentioned it. I didn't pay attention to the picture. SteelMyHeart85420, the knife is 3 3/4" closed. Colonial and Imperial and maybe others made knives like that. Thank you.

Just got this dandy 3 1/2" dogleg and was about to post under "hardware knives", but found this old thread from 2016, and decided to bring Joe's 8 year old post back to the forefront!

That's a beautiful dog leg, Ike. Reminds me of an Empire that I had at one point.

That Empire memory sounds like a wistful one. I'm sure it was a looker!
