My blade is magnetic

I was comaparing my Case Select Trapper to a Queen Trapper last night and noticed it stuck to the Queen. After finally narrowing down the sourse of the sticky problem, I found out the spey blade from the nail nick forward is magnetized. Any one else ever notice this in one of your knives?

Nope but I have done it to my screw drivers from time to time.

It helps hold the screw to the driver to get started...

Just slide it a long a magnet a few times one way and it will work.

Your knife must have come close to a magnet some time in its life is all.

Steel will do that...

OR just send it to me I will fix it for you.

None of my knives are magnetic. Knives that I don't own are magnetic and seem to suck every last dollar out of my wallet!

Interesting...... won't bother anything unless you work on computers, electronics with it. The olny way something like that can become Magnetized is extreme friction, heat, current or it could be part of a quality control that CASE uses to perform Magnetic particle inspection and for getting to de-mag after the inspection. Magnetic Inspection is used to check for surface and subsurface defects in products

I figured it out today. It was in one of those Case glass displays with the little magnets. When the girl behind the counter got the knife out of the display she pulled it along the magnets magnetizing the tip. Just like justold said with the screwdriver(which I've done in the past myself, but had forgotten).

Bill, your right about them sucking your money, their good for that.

How old are you now ? If you are over 40 you can use that as an excuse.

Well you said "You compaired Case Select Trapper to a Queen Trapper" So what fid you find is the better of the two and WHY ?

I work with magnetic fields. Must be a very very light field she created when doing this.

it's an old trick when working with small screws. always kept a big old rare earth magnet in my toolbox, a couple rubs and instant magnet.

I Just wanted to compare bolster sizes and stag character. The Queen has a muskrat blade which I like. I couldn't resist and bought another of the stag Selects today. I also saw some at another Select dealer today. These have some unbelievable stag.

Anyone else seen these yet?

justold, I like Queens for the fact they look more like the way Case knives used to look like back in the old days, but I mostly collect Case. The 2 Select dealers in my area are Border's in Ashland, KY and a hardware store across the river in Huntington, WV.
The pics show a Queen City trapper on top of 2 Case Select trappers. The stag on the Case knives is unbelievable.

BTW, I'll be 35 in a week

Did you see we have some good stores here at AAPK ?

The brick and mortar stores are best cuz you can hold it in your hand..

I also like the top and bottom ones best cuz the one in the center has to much WHITE by the ends. Thats just my felling.

Just FYI--some processes in grinding involve holding the steel down with strong magnets...which helps explain your knife.

Also, some dealers have a magnetic personality and it does effect their knives.
