Bulldog 3rd gen Whittler on Ebay

Post by Rustle47 »

There is a 4" stag handled fighting dog whittler on Ebay (item# 170176506873) without a shield. According to the book (Price Guide Vol 8 pg 68), the only 3rd gen whittlers made w/o a shield were pearl handled. The knife doesn't look like it may have had a shield at one time. Do you think this is an undocumented knife, or re-handled? If it is re-handled, what do you think the value is? The book shows a stag knife with shield at $80. I would like to bid on this one, especially if it's the real deal.

I have had a few of the stag whittlers. All of them had shields. The pearls do not. Still I don't think the knife is a fake. The seller is a good one and sells a lot of good bulldogs. The stag whittlers are not real hard to find and sell for about 85.00 or so. Most I have seen have better stag than the one on ebay. Those whittlers are a real substantial knife with the thick saber blade.

Thanks, Tom. Maybe I will try a $40 or $50 bid, see what happens. I don't have a fighting dogs whittler - yet.
