These two, a Boker USA (Delrin handles) and a Fight'n Rooster from Germany (jigged olive green bone handles) I don't know the ages of. The F-R is one of my favorites. OH

This first Buck 301 was the final variation made by Schrade for Buck, around 1970-71. The second Buck 301 was an early variation made by Camillus, also in the 1971-72 time frame. OH

One is a Schrade over Walden over NY, 8363, except it has 2 pens instead of one being a coping pen... as is shown in the 1938 catalog. It is called a Carpenter's knife. It has a Federal shield, split back and unequal ends... and a sabre clip master by itself but still has 3 blades total.

While you did correctly identify that 895 as being on the same frame, I would say the "8363" is a splitback whittler as configured, not a stock knife. Not to rehash the old argument about "true splitbacks" -- I refer to them as such to differentiate from the myriad twin-parallel-spring whittlers out there -- but that spring configuration is very popular for whittlers where the main blade needs more spring due to the size and thickness, and the smaller coping or pen blades (or clip, or sheepsfoot, or file... ) need only one spring each. "True splitbacks" are when the same single piece of steel is actually split into two smaller springs, with a metal wedge between the two to maintain separation. I see a lot fewer of these than the typical 2-spring splitback.

There's another interesting twist to the naming conventions (stockman vs. cattleman, premium, etc.) and that is the common reference to stockman-style serpentine knives with punches as "carpenter's knives". I believe most have a secondary sheepsfoot blade -- I'm not at all sure if the ones with spey blades are also just "stockmen" or their own kind of beast -- but the punch seems to be the common thread among every "carpenter's knife" I've ever seen.

The only truly old stockman I have which might stand a chance at tickling anybody's pickle is this old beat-up steel Remington R3873 stock knife... It has some issues with one of the kicks and very little snap on the master but it's not the worst I've ever seen.

Very nice old knives everyone, I've only got a few, a Case birdseye XX era and a Remington with a spey main and a modified secondary blade, was probably a sheepsfoot. Both are well used but still very nice knives.

I really like the bird's eye Case XX. Since the altered blade in the Rem has a long pull it would not have been a short blade but rather was most likely a full length long pull clip. Plenty of life left in them.

A few more stockman pattern knives from the IMHO under-appreciated Premier Lifetime brand. The company ceased operations in 1955 so these are of similar vintage to Case XX era. Hope you enjoy.

Ken, thanks for showing the Premier brand knives. They're both nice! The long pull with red shield really catches my eye.
