Re Handling HELP

I need some help on how to re handle a fixed blade. This is an old Western and the handle had dry rotted and need replacing.

Here ya go, Fatman

Just drive out those 2 pins in the butt. It all comes off the back end.

That handle doesn't really look all that bad, tho'. You might try sanding it, and puttin' a sealer on it, before you replace it ?

This handle has chuncks coming out of it, I have just stuck them back in there.

Yes sir it does. I have to admit that I went to mans house and he took me out to his shop and we talked and he did this knife in about 35 minutes. He is teaching me. I have to work on getting some of the tools of the trade and first thing i've got to do is get me a shop built.

Take some step by step photos for us PLEASE.

I just love to see those make overs. Before and in between and After.

Ken I will ask him if I can take pics. I don't think he will mind since he is showing me how to do this. (AT NO CHARGE)
Some of you may have heard of this guy, he is located in Maryville TN and his name is Dave Quenemoen. He owns DQ Custom Knives.
Super good fellow. I enjoy just sitting and talking with him. I spent the better part of 5 hours with him today, most of it talking and half hour or so working on that Wester.

Great Guy. I'll see if he will let me snap a few pictures next time.

If there is any addiction worse than collecting knives it is repairing knives!
Soon you will buy only old broken knives so you can fix them.

GUILTY!

But I also have picked up some really RARE First Generation Bulldog stockmans. A 1 of 9 single blade stockman, a 1 of 6 and a few more. Need to make a few backsprings.

Piece of cake these days, dang those aren't on my list either.

Put on list - make the darn list.
