Evening everyone. Hope you all have been well.
I have a question.
I know that Buck made the 301(Schrade made) with grooved bolsters. I also know that some of them had all three tangs stamped. With Buck, Made in U,S,A< on the master bald and Buck on the other two.
I was wondering if they ever made the 303 or any other of the 3o series with grooved bolsters.
Thanks

Re: Vintage Buck 303
The 301 and the 303 both started as Schrade contract knives, but the 301 was the only one with grooved bolsters. That version, along with a version without grooved bolsters and with only the master blade stamped, was produced 1966-1967. A third version with the secondary blades stamped "BUCK" was produced from 1967-1971. None of the Schrade contract knives had a stamped model number. In 1971 Camillus took over production of both the 301 and 303.
