Nice pick-up, Ivoryman. I carry a USA era knife just like it to work every day.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Both are beautiful knives John, that anyone would be proud to have. As to you question regarding "red bone": I have after many years come to the realization that you can call it what you want, however true redbone will always bring more money. That is blood/strawberry/cherry red from bolster to bolster with matching front and back covers. That is the old school definition of redbone.1967redrider wrote:I just picked these two up at the Harrisonburg show for a price I couldn't refuse. 1974 6111 1/2L and an XX 6217 loom fixer.
Got a question, do you think the XX 6217 is bone or red bone? Both are unsharpened but the loom fixer does have a little spider web on the back of the main blade, no biggie though. Thanks for your thoughts!

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Thanks, QSteel...when I first saw it, I thought it was wood with a burned in design (like the old wood burning kits I used to make in jr. high wood shop)...but it's actually bone that's been dyed and laser etched. First and only Case knife I have ever seen with that pattern, although I'm sure there must be hundreds if not thousands more like it floating around out there (I would be surprised if Sasquach didn't have one in his massive canoe collection).Quick Steel wrote:QTCut5: I like your Canoe very much. Sorry to bore again with this one but lighting is everything and the lighting is better today, sun instead of cloudy. Shows the color better.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
More trading than anything, I had a lot of rare newer case, Ivory, abalone Pearl and other low runs. Started reinvesting them in these older knives

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
I'm all about stockmans ... I must have just about every one Case makes. This one always eluded me ... turns out it may be my all time favorite - a 3-5/8" humpback frame. It's a really stocky stockman - has a lot of heft to it for it's size, but it's particularly thin - the sheepsfoot blade is surprisingly wide & stout. The spear blade is a nice change of pace on a stockman - the little swedge grind is a nice touch. All in all, this one may be one of my all time fave's ... both for work and weekend carry. I can't find anything wrong with it - great snap on all blades & fit and finish is above par for a late model Case
pffffft that's not a knife ......... now THAT'S a knife !! Crocodile Dundee
