Noble Equine Viper?!

Post by cody6268 »

While looking through a webpage of an equestrian retailer that I frequently get catalogs from, Dover Saddlery, I've discovered a knife I never heard of before, the Noble Equine Viper, which is made in China. Given the option of pink and Zebra handles, I think this knife is marketed towards women (still though, I'd never lose a pink knife!). I personally don't like the upside down pocket clip.

Since the brand of the knife normally makes equestrian clothing, methinks someone else actually makes the knife.

Who actually makes this knife? Overall construction looks like a simliar knife I bought from Magic Mart several years ago for a dollar, and the more expensive knives look familiar from those of another maker, but I can't put a finger on it.

Here's where I originally found the knife:

Apparently, the company offers a whole line of knives and tools. A hoof pick with a corkscrew, what the heck?! What would be the practicality of that? I own three hoofpicks, one handmade from a horseshoe that was given to me by a local blacksmith (got it well before I rode, never used it), an Epona Magnapick (has a magnet glued into it, was my no. 2 hoofpick) and a cheap folding one (the workhorse when I did ride, carried it in my pocket). All were made for one purpose, well a hoofpick.

When you get into knives made in China, it's pretty much anyones guess as to who made the knife. There are factories in China that make knives for anyone who will "pony" up the money. (A little horse humor don't ya know  )

i PERSONALLY have found......
IF you contact the supplier/seller they can give you a contact number for the IMPORTER, who can give you name of actual maker

NOTE*** SOME MAKERS HAVE SEVERAL FACTORIES - USUALLY NAMED FOR THE PROVINCE THEY ARE LOCATED
but not always.................

some ARE DAMN GOOD MAKERS - this mainly depends on the contract and how much buyer wants to pay!
some are total JUNK.... just like anything made in any country ::nod::

Noble Equine Viper sound like a character in a Quentin Tarantino film.

Sorry for the digression.
