Remington does a broken blade effect anything

With the exception of extremely rare examples of makers/patterns, a broken blade has a profound effect on value.

Your knife has what's called the Remington script stamping which dates it to 1935-1940, the last years of Remington. As Glenn says, except for very rare knives a broken blade pretty much ruins the collector value.

I have family friends that carry knives with broken blades that have been in their family for years.

That broken blade likely makes it worth a whole heck of a lot less, but won't hurt if you use it.

I have a wonderful old broke blade Utica that is a regular EDC and one I enjoy carrying. If you like your knife you will soon forget it is worthless as a collector knife and enjoy it for what is is.

A previous owner of mine broke or cut the blade clean at the very base of the tang so only the smallest stub remains. Thus I never have to see that ugly old broken blade and no longer think of it as a wounded warrior.

In my experience, guys that are buying knives for either a collection or an investment will not buy a knife with a broken blade. They actually hardly buy knives below "very good" on the below scale.

But if you got that knife to be a user for you to carry, don't worry about the value. Just use it and like it.

Agree with everyone, not a collectable , but I think you probably knew that when you bought it. Maybe grind the sharpe part of the broken blade so it doesn't cut a hole in your pants! Seems to me that I read somewhere that Remington used the script logo on their less expensive pocket knives. Terry
