Derlin handles??

Not sure what to make of this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CASE-XX-TESTED- ... SwMgdXzyrC It's for sure not what the seller says it is. Think he means Delrin, but it wasn't invented when the knife was supposedly made. My first thought was pocket-worn bone but on closer look I'm skeptical. Seller says it's a "32 pattern"?? (Looks more like a 62098F.) I'll be interested to see what the experts say about it.

Well ken that looks like pocket worn bone to me but with that tang stamp and the bugered up bolster pin I would be a little skeptical of that one plus I am pretty sure those had a liner lock for the main blade. If memory serves me correctly wasn't Case's around 1915-20. I have one with Case's Stainless but it has a liner lock. I can't see one on that knife.

With the scaler on the disgorger blade and the caplifter on the main bladelooks like the blades may have come from the 1950's.

Thanks Greg. I got the 62098F pattern from the cap lifter being on the master blade and the seller saying the knife's length is 5-1/2 inches. Sargents indicates the 62098F was made in Tested era, which would also be consistent with the tang stamp on the knife. Can't tell much about the shield from the seller's pictures. What I think I can make out doesn't look like a Tested era shield but would need clearer pictures to tell for sure. But they for sure didn't have delrin back then. If it is indeed delrin then it's a fake or it's been re-handled (and then carried a lot!). If it's pocket worn bone it may be the real deal.

I just checked the chart and that stamp is 1932-40. The knife blades arewell used though and certainly wouldn't command his asking price.

Yeah that one is a joke. Its an 098 "SEA BEAST" as others have said. My guess is that it had yellow handles that decomposed and someone replace them with delrin. The handles do look to be delrin, not worn bone.
