That's some beautiful work you did there Terry!

Here's one that knows its way around hunting camp real well. I pulled it out of the bug-out bag in my truck to clean it up before September gets here and shot a pic while I was at it.

Finished up this one and got it sold already, it's a small high carbon steel , no guard type knife I call a trout and bird knife. About a 4" blade 1/8"" thick and has a orange paper based micarta handle. Easier for us old guys to find if we lay it down in the weeds. Thanks for looking, Terry

Thought I'd post this one up. Picked it up some time ago for $25 minus the sharpening steel.Had one that fit in the sheath so it is there now.
Made in Denmark by Erling Vandegal which I surmise is a pretty high end manufacturer as this knife oozes quality. Flat ground blade with a glaze finish the handle is some type of close grained wood(looks a bit like red oak but not as coarse) fitted to the pommel and guard very precisely(see picture).Well constructed sheath fits knife tightly but still allows easy removal.

I have 2 or 3 fixed blades from Denmark. The unique feature about them is how light weight they are i.e. do not weigh very much, very light feeling in hand.
Is the Vandegal like this ?

As a matter of fact it is very light for it's size.This seems to be a characteristic of Nordic knives;at least the ones I own.Some of them may not look as fancy as other country's knives but the steels used are top quality and the fit and finish are second to none.

I have many knives (vintage & modern) from Sweden, Norway & Finland, which are all similar in the weight department. The few Denmark knives i have are the lightest i have ever held.

Posted this in the new acquisitions thread but figured to throw it in here as well. A nice Olsen(Germany)model 4800(3 1/2)with file work on the spine and fancy brass pommel and guard. Handle looks like it may be birch.Paid $8 for it.Had a few scratches in the blade that were easily removed. Goes nice with the rest of my Olsens.

here's a few... most of my fixed blades are from custom knife makers.

Orange G10 scaled skinner/hunter is from Dale Atkerson of Slaughterville Knives. Black liners, carbon fiber pins, CF arrow section for the lanyard hole, and a beautiful locking sheath.

A Boning knife from Brent Dowell using burlap micarta with orange and black liners, black pins.

A little mini fixed blade with stag scales, red liners from Rick Menefee, this is a true fixed blade pocket knife with a 2" blade.

Ray Kirk (ABS MS) made this small Chef knife, forging the blade from 52100 round bar. The handle is burl Redwood.

My two off the shelf fixed blades are a Buck 119 and a Gerber Blackie Collins Clip-Lock Boot Knife...

Two EDC small fixed blades that easily fit in a pocket... one with curly Maple scales, the other with vintage Butterscotch Micarta scales.

A Rick Nowland utility, bird & trout... G10 scales.

I also have the Buck 119 with wood handle. Also a Blackie Collins/Gerber boot knife but a different design. Can't get a picture now as my knives are all packed for cross country move. At any rate, you have a very fine collection.

Thanks guys! I'm a sucker for a good lookin' knife, that is made by a true craftsman. The Slaugherville orange handled one is perfect for skinning out a deer carcass. The Dowell Boning knife is ridiculously good at it's intended purpose. The little Menefee pocket knife is a joy to carry but I don't carry it often... the one I do carry frequently is the Butterscotch micarta handled one. It's not as valuable as the Menefee and is just as easy to carry. A friend of mine told me that... pocket knives that fold, are just broken knives on purpose!

The Menefee in it's little sheath fits very comfortably in a front pocket, when I'm wearing jeans. The blade is 2", look at the photos of it in hand...

A beautiful little knife to be sure! I have a bunch of small fixed blade knives and have never really thought about using them as an EDC knife. I may have to re-think that now that I see yours.I think I will start a separate post for them and see who will add to it. Seems to me there was a thread like this some time ago but my search skills are worse than my computer skills.

Haha..!! Ya, the Butterscotch I've carried in sheath. in my pocket quite frequently. I gave the Maple handled one to my son this past June as a Birthday present. The Menefee is gorgeous and on another level of build quality.

The fixed blade vs folder tease about them being intentionally broken knives, by design... is just a fun thing to say to get some folks wound up. Personally, I have way more folders than fixed blades. I love both.

checksix, love the little Menefee! I've made several small fixed blades myself, I call them "three finger" knives. The one I'm posting is not a small knife but I have used it quite a little, it's a knife made by Alvin Meredith from Cheyenne wy. It has some real nice stag and mosaic pins and he uses 440C stainless. We traded knives a couple of years ago, he wanted one of mine and I ended up with a couple of his customs. Terry
