did this single blade case trapper and schatt and morgan peanut the last two days. Still trying to get the hang of my new lighting.

this one is availible if you can't live without it.
I also took this old 1930's era checkpoint, and added some old 1970's sheffield, England bone. No bolsters, no filework, just plain, thin lightweight working knife that takes a killer edge.

Great work Kaleb! I can't say anything bad at all, these are great. I like what you did with the Turquoise and desert Ironwood with the red spacers. That one is real catchy!

Dale, the sheffield bone was given to me as a gift from a fellow I was going to do some work for.
Hukk, that isn't ironwood it's tortoise shell in reconstituted stone form. the stuff is really nice.

Ken, that peanut is the S&M I traded you for. It's available.

Hey, MM--another couple of great knives, as usual. I would like to ask a question about the turquoise you guys use--where can you buy the stuff you use on knife handles????

My mistake, looks great! I like that recon, I haven't seen or used it - yet!

Looks to be much better than the celluloid they sell.

Jantz carries a lot of this and Masecraft is better I think because you can order 1/8 inch or 3/16 inch and likely do special order cuts. Masecraft has several different turquoise recon materials to choose from.

K&G carries the tortoise shell and abalone swirl celluloids also. I'd stick with the recon though, get that celluloid a bit hot and you may have just started the outgassing (degrading of celluloid material) if you allow it to get it to hot.

Thanks everyone. I've been trying to keep busy got a case soddie Jr on the bench, as well as some others and I just finished up this buck creek senator in buffalo horn and turquoise. spring was kinda narrow (not too thin, just not wide enough top to bottom) was afraid it would weaken it or cause it to break so I passed on the filework.

I always love watching the buffalo horn come to life as the polish takes hold

Hukk, just for future reference, the tortoise recon is softer and more flexible than the turquoise or jasper, you have to be carful so it doesn't buff down too much though, it's best to sand with a shim to 600 grit or finer before trying to polish. I got this from masecraft supply, I have only recently began doing business with them and they are a pleasure to deal with, I'm going to see if they can cut me some a bit wider and thicker for a special project i'll be working on in the future.

Thanks for the info MM. I have used red, honey, and black/white horn scales and you have to be careful with it also. I have never used the recon stuff but I certainly can see the benefits. Buffalo scales can smell like burning hair the whole time you're shaping them.

Sheephorn smells worse. That Buck Creek looks great

sounds like you made a good decision to leave the backsprng alone. I have been using Masecraft for about a year now and they have been generous with some free stuff. I think they may have it now or will have it, but they were working on some recon Mammoth Tooth, looked pretty good and I haven't seen it on their site. From what they had told me, they had a Game Warden looking in on it. Sounded kinda funny though, I thought wardens were only interested in LIVE critters.

Looked pretty good, I think I may still have a piece in the shop.

recon tooth huh? sounds great. Yeah, they are generous people, I got some "scraps" of material I otherwise would never have ordered but becuase of thier generosity I got the chance to work with it and may add it to future orders. Game Warden? What would he know about mammoth tooth? It's recon anyway so I wouldn't see where the problem would be, maybe i'm missing something?

I'll see if I can dig it out somewhere in the shop and take a picture, start where all my recon is supposed to be.

I never thought to ask, does seem a bit odd. He was referring to the quality I'm sure. Maybe some local fossil hunter or arheologist had a beef about real tooth. You can always buy it from Turnage who claims everything comes from Siberia, although a lot of blue in the tooth indicates minerals out of the North Sea. Only thing I can think of would be that the tooth was of local interest.

M&M I sure like that Buck Creek, the buck has special meaning still here
in the mountains,most knife traders here will jump on a buck creek like
