This is a Rare/Vintage Case classic 2 blade Jumbo Trapper knife with the Beautiful "Mastadon Ivory Scales and Giraffe bone" scales. This knife comes in a case classic box with no Certificate! ... ." A Super Piece that was obtained from a Knife collector in Eastern Kentucky..... .This knife is Beautiful . This piece has Never been used, carried or sharpened and Near Mint condition. Blades have Light Age spots and the Ivory has Natural fawls or cracks ...Rare pattern 7223 Box is Marked Proto.....

it doesnt look right to me. im no knife maker, but i think i would at least keep the grain of the same material running the same way. i think it may have been rehandled. PS , im no expert on sectioned case classics, it just doesnt seem right to me.

The Bid is high going in up wards of 120.00 and dating this it is old I did think they had Ma. Ivory and Giraffe bone knives back then...maybe your right.

At least that's what I'd do. All the grain running the same way helps the the look of the knife flow.

I asked How old is this knife and the fact that Girafe and Ma Ivory is an interesting mix...heres the ansewer
I don't know anything about this one. The box is marked Proto And there is a Long tail c with 0000 on the bolster. I was told that is was a rare one.

year of the knife does not date it's modification. i don't think true prototypes are numbered, especially with 0000. jmo

Correct....numbered Case Classics are not prototypes.

That knife was made in the 1990's. It originally was a Case Classic but it appears to have been custom made and was rehandled by someone. If you want to know what the value is I guess you just found out after someone bid $175.00 for it. I think after they receive it and show it to someone who has some knowledge of Case Classics they might feel like they've been had. In my opinion, I wouldn't have given $20.00 for it and maybe used it for an edc. It is definitely not a prototype, nor rare and the 0000's on the bolsters do not indicate it is a prototype.

Ya just got my interest up..it was not a good looking knife....But I am in love with the Tony Bose/Case Millennium
Chestnut Bone Trapper and what a fair price would be on that.

Wow, someone wasted a lot of money. Actually I love it when two fools get together on ebay to entertain us with an auction like this. Sound harsh? I mean to. The information is out there for anyone getting into knife collecting to research an item like this bastardized and ruined Case.

Oh my. Just saw that Lenny357 was one of the bidders. Sorry about my fool statement, Lenny. You did the right thing by coming here to the forum and asking, but maybe a little late. You might have considered withdrawing your bids to keep from driving the price of that monstrousity up. Of course then the auction would have been less entertaining.

Ebay is open to all; The real Case Classic collectors knew all about this knife before you did. When you see something like this, don't figure you are the only one going to get in on the hot action to get something rare and valuable. Just come here, or somewhere, and ask ask ask ask ask. If anything, if it is known you want the knife in question, the guys here may step aside like gentlemen.

Got carried away on that one maybe too much Turkey lol...Got my sense back and came running here as soon as I was out bid. I guess there are collectors and sales men collectors are trying to get knives while salesmen are playing dumb to get rid of knives. Auctions are different in person than on ebay and I'm learning that. I do have time to research something on ebay before I bid and waste my money. Thanks for the dose of sense, by the way it' sold for $167.50. Making it for supply and demand a valuable knife in a twisted ebay world.
