Here is another tang stamp. Not "Waterville" but related to the Waterville factory when B.H. Morse made knives in the closed Waterville factory 1855-1865.

I bought this Waterville a while back. The blade is a replacement but the handle is unique.

Mason, I am piling on the compliments already written. Your Waterville knife is extraordinary! I am curious as to its length - is it in the 3 1/2" range or over 4"? The large cigar-like patterns are one of my favorite patterns.

Jerry you have already got most of the Case and Remingtons in the known world. Leave the Watervilles alone.

You know the more I looked at this knife Mason I realized I have a Waterville with a similar shield that also mirrors the swell-center frame (posted it on another Waterville thread on AAPK but thought it be cool to compare to yours - mine is 3 & 5/8" closed)... This one is ebony - I prefer your jigged bone though .. anyway so here it is again...

Thanks dhillbilly for that great history lesson. Waterville made some very cool knives. Here's a pair of small gent's knives. The same pattern with 2 different handle materials. The knives are 2 1/2" closed. One has Aluminum handles/liners, no scales, hand engraved with pocket wear and sunk joint construction. The other has Ivory handles & brass liners with common joint construction. Barry

One of my favorite patterns, a wharncliffe pen knife. 2 7/8" closed. Stamped WATERVILLE CUTLERY CO CONN. on the master blade and WATER-VILLE CO on the pen blade. Aluminum handles likely hand engraved. Used but not abused condition.

Sweet Waterviile Barry ... Looks like this one had some brass detail work on the handles at the pivot pins if I'm not mistaken.. have to agree on the pattern as I am quite fond of the wharncliffe pens as well ...

Lee, The color that appears to be brass detail is only a reflection from the scanner.
