Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

Hoyt Buck produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt and his son Al moved to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry in 1964 with the infamous Model 110 Folding Hunter. The company's innovative history and attention to quality have made for many great collectible knives.

Grabbed a Jigged Bone 371 this morning for 19.00 on Clearance at store. Bottom pin is proud on both sides and the sheep foot was gritty. Washed it in hot water and dawn and scrubbed it good with a tooth brush and a dental pick. It been dryed and is taking a CLP Bath. I will take a file and work down the proud bottom pin. Blades were nice in Sharp out of the box.

I posted it elsewhere but here's my "new" old Buck 301 with scale pins, brass liners, and carbon springs! I gave it its first sharpening today. I'm gonna tote it some.

Great find! What you have is a 1971-only version by Camillus. When they were transitioning manufacturing from Schrade to Camillus in mid 1971 CC made these versions for that short period of time with handle pins, by '72 they had eliminated the handle pins altogether. They differ from the '67-'71 Schrade versions by the size of the handle pins, (Schrade's pins were larger), and a slightly different master blade profile & grind. I have both a #301 & #305 of that version.

Thanks Baykeeper. I sharpened it this morning. It took a real good edge. I did notice that the sheepsfoot is massive. It's really thick. Ought to be a great user.

My latest Buck arrived today, a Buck 121 Guide (the early 1980's update of the Buck 121 Fisherman). The Guide has a thicker blade than the earlier 121 Fisherman but is still thinner than the very similar Buck 105. OH

That's cool OH, I like that a lot, when I first looked at the photo I thought "105" in my head,( I have one so I recognize the upturned blade). I love the size & feel of the 105, and would probably love one of these Guides too, looks like I'll have to update my want list. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Baykeeper. Ole Buck knife just continues to amaze with all the subtle variations on their knives over the years. Early on I thought 'just an example of each model' - ha, that'll be the day! OH

Can I sneak this one in here? It's not a 110, it's my 119. I bought it new in 1993. I posted it in the Fixed Blade thread earlier... but it really belongs here.

Thanks OH! I see you're from Eastern NC. The place where the finest Pork BBQ on Earth comes from!

I lived in Raleigh for 5 yrs back in the late '70s. I learned how to make proper Q while I was there and still make some every year, with my own ACV sauce and NC style homemade slaw. I also used to fish the Little River by Nixonton and it was the best!

Here's some homestyle Q done correctly... which is really foreign where I live now. I've got friends up here that ask me when the next batch will be done, 'cause you can't buy it anywhere around here like this. Notice the red pepper flake in the bark? Notice the smoke ring? Low and slow for 10 hrs at 225*F over lump charcoal.

Apologies for the sidetrack!!!

Dave, that's some good looking BBQ! I'm cooking a pig for my daughter and her friends downeast on the Pamlico River on Sunday. I was supposed to do it tomorrow but the Tropical Storm has us wrapped up in rain until late tomorrow afternoon. OH

Time to move this old thread back to the top. Found a NOS Buck 401 Kalinga in a pawnshop this past week. Never owned one before, this one is fairly early in that it has Micarta handles. OH

Great find OH, I like the profile, very distinctive. Thanks for bumping the thread, I haven't posted lately due to a depleted knife budget, but I enjoy looking at other people's treasures.

Being broke doesn't mean I've lost my fascination with all things sharp, (especially Bucks), or that my knife-buying addiction has been cured, (yeah sure, like that will ever happen), just means I'll have to indulge that fascination vicariously for the time being, (it's not like I don't have a bunch of knives already, but of course more is better). Actually, I'm happy I decided to start collecting Bucks when I did, (and could better afford it), nowadays their relative value is going beyond my means to follow, especially the more "collectible" ones like SFO's. Just glad to have what I have, which will suffice as a fine inheritance for my grandson.

Those are attractive knives. I have a 103 that I have never used; the skinner profile is great to look upon, but I never seem to pick one of them for skinning.
