Platts Brothers

Post by ScoutKnives »

Picked up this early Platts Brothers Andover NY knife .
The only research on it that I can find is that it was made from 1907-09 ? Knife measures 3 5/8" closed , very snappy .
Is this company Case related ?
Is it a rare tang stamp ?
What pattern is it ?
Thanks in advance .

Levine calls that a curved regular jack and both the pattern and the name I would consider rare. Platts were related to Case by marriage and worked together for a while. That is really a great knife and looks to be in nice shape.

Harvey Platts eventually moved to Colorado and founded Western Cutlery.

Harvey was at WR Case when his brothers were doing there thing at Andover.Harvey left Case a couple years later and went west. Clay Jordan took over the Andover operation and made Clay Cutlery Andover for a few years.
