The Cow Peas of my youth were brown and more the size of English peas (green peas) and tasted more like a cross between Pinto Beans and Black-Eyed peas. I think they're the same as Crowder Peas. I've never heard of Iron and Clay peas, so I had to ask.

Spent a pretty rough day fishing east of Core Banks on the Atlantic yesterday; we only boated two flat-nose dolphin. Still, a day spent on the water is a good day (except for two of my partners who were sick most of the day - they'd tell a different tale). OH

Me too but when I get out of sight of land, I get sick. It doesn't happen on trains or planes or carnival rides, just on water when there is no land in sight.philco wrote:Now that looks like fun to me.

Big ships don't bother me but small boats on big water (less than 100' or so. The boat, not the water) turn me green. Chucked my cookies on a whale watching tour last year down in Mexico. Very embarrassing when you're the only one.

Been sea sick one time on a fishing trip out of Murrill's Inlet, S.C.
We had continuous 15 foot swells that day.
I have never been more proud to get my feet back on solid ground.

Never been sea sick (fortunately) but I don't like not being able to see land.
On the other hand I have no problem going 70 mph on choppy water in a Ranger or Triton or Nitro 22 ft. bass boat.

OH - that looks like a great day! I have never caught any of those Dorado or flat-nose dolphin. They stay a little further off shore than I want to go in my little boat. I have been sea sick on boats and ships. The Navy pretty much cured me after a few months, but I have plenty of sympathy for those who suffer.
On Monday these fellows came by to see what we were doing. It was very interesting to see them laze along just a couple of feet under our boat - I could not get a decent photo of that.

About 2 1/2 weeks we posted some pictures when we planted the grandsons' deer plot, here are a few more showing the early growth. These Iron & Clay peas should last all summer, but about 6 weeks before Thanksgiving they will be disked in and some cool weather crop will be put in their place.

Drive on Dogg - a dead yote makes for a happy hunter! Finally got my wife talking "boat" with me - been a passing fancy for years, but I'm thinking ducks in the winter, a little fishing in the salt marsh, and some fun running about in the sound with her (and my daughter). OH

Two popular sayings by boat owners.
Definition of a boat. A hole in the water into which you throw money.
The best two days in a boat owner's life. The day you buy your boat and the day you sell your boat.

I have an alums-craft 15 ft. runabout and two canoes upside down behind the barn for when I retire someday. The runabout has been there for 30 years and the canoes for 10. It could happen some day if I win the lottery(I have never actually bought a ticket). My chickens roost on the Evenrude in the chicken barn so it's still being used some.___Dave
