Exactly my thought! I for one have never objected to seeing a knife in more that one thread if it fits in both. I will admit that I do kind of hesitate to post my knives in more than one thread, but if it has been months or years since the previous post, then I figure no one will remember it anyway.philco wrote:KJ if those knives fit this thread, please post them here. Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
This thread title says "Vintage", but by popular demand i'm showing these young'ns, all under 20 years of age i think. All the work of Joel Chamblin. For reasons maybe not knowable, Mr. Chamblin's knives have not been selling well on the secondary market for the last few years so there has been a great opportunity for the buyer.

And one more. This 3 5/8" Dogleg Jack came from ebay. I think this might have been a custom order with it's 6 threaded bolsters, intensely worked backsprings and gold chain wrap over the pearl. Not sure but the 3 pins per side are likely gold.

Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
I'm not going to look it up right now, but one definition of "vintage" that I've seen is, "indicative of the time during which an item was produced", or words to that effect.
That definition suits me and age has not much to do with it.

Using "vintage" in the way Charlie posted"indicative of the time during which an item was produced", i describe these Chamblin knives as: "indicative of higher end custom knife work of late 20th century and early 21st century when there was a resurgence of interest in knives made in Sheffield England approximately 100 years prior".

Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
There are several threads that have vintage in the title. I have never been sure what was considered vintage in the context of the topic. Typically I think of vintage as referring to an older knife or wine or what ever. But a knife or wine made this year is vintage 2016 and in that context just as vintage as a vintage 1916 knife or wine. I probably just over analyze things.

I am stunned by the quality of those knives just foreshown. Wow! This little three inch Wester & Butz is all I have to offer here but it is a nice little knife, with milled liners.

Very fine knife Calvin. The early 1900 German made pearl handled 'Gent's' knives are of a quality just a shade under the best of Sheffield of the same time. I have a fair collection of these and every time i get them out to inspect i get a lovely happy feeling.
By "Gent's" i mean any pocket knife intended for dressier occasions rather than for hard work.

Great knives here all, KJ those Chamblin's are beautiful.
Nice, pretty knife tongueriver. I have always liked knives with folding scissors. Not just because I like scissors, but I appreciate that it would have taken extra time to work.
Here is an old LF&C shadow sleeveboard that measures 3 3/8". The size makes it feel a little more like a jack knife, but the mother of pearl gives it the fine feel of a pen knife.

Glad you brought this thread back to the top Beechtree - and a nice LF&C to boot
KJ - as all have said those Chamblin knives are indeed awesome craftsmanship
That jack with gold is just beautiful and unique!!
Calvin - in my opinion you can't beat milled liners on a MOP knife
- they just seem to go so nicely together
