what is the rarest case knife you have??

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

That 06267 is one of the prettiest knives I have ever seen.I think any knife that's that nice is rare.

Those were made for the military, hence the USA stamp. I believe They sold around 80,000 of these for around .39 cents each. I have a picture of the contract somewhere.

They will bring over twice that now!!! ::ds:: ::ds::

XXTestedXX, I was just sitting here thinking that Case & Sons whittler you posted is in excellent condition ,there couldn't possibly be many of those left given the propensity of people to use their knives until used up at that time. That has got to be one rare knife.

I'm hoping so, I haven't seen many with this shield. This one has a SAB blade as well. hard to tell in the picture.

Wish I had one for you. Unusual for a Case from that era to be missing the shield - they were pinned on. Hope someone can help. Maybe someone has a "parts knife" with a good shield of the correct vintage.

Very nice Tom! It looks to be an early Tested example with the large jigging. The bolsters look recessed in the picture.

Thanks Larry and Jerry,
Yes it does have the pinched or recessed bolsters. It definitely has larger jigging than most Greenbone you see in the Tested era. The one pictured in Jim Sargent's book ironically looks to me to have the larger jigging as well. Still have to hold out the possibility or probability that it might have been rehandled.
