Good luck. Seems like everytime an item I REALLY WANT shows up on eBay, I can always count on a sniper showing up. Good luck and I hope the snipers stay home.

Beware of the bid auction software, high bids come from these programs and I do use it myself when I'm not going to be home.
I ONLY use this software when 1 of the 2 conditions is present.
1. No one else has bid, I'll put it in my software.
2. I look at the bidding history list and make sure I don't see somone I know.
After doing my "homework" I'll put a bid in the software. I know I look like a sniper, but usually I put my bid on the item when there are no bids, I can't always sit by my PC and wait to bid.

Why do you sound apologetic about snipeing ? I do, and I'm not !

If I'm a buyer, it's my goal to get what I want for as little as possible, not to help the seller achieve the highest possible price. That doesn't mean I wish to rip the seller off, because I bid the maximum I'm willing to pay. I've won many items for far less than the bid I entered. That just means other bidders weren't serious enough. I've also lost many items by snipeing, because there are no second chances when you snipe. That just indicates someone wanted the item more than I did. No matter how I bid, win or lose, I've raised the price to the seller.

I'm not willing, however, to put in a high bid early in an auction, and ( this has happened ), have some idjit sit at their computer for two or three days, entering bids in $1 increments.

I've occasionally bid on items because I thought they were going way too low. If a seller is going to take a beating, it might as well be me who benifits. I've even offered a couple of times, to let the seller not complete the transaction. If they wish to do so, even though they're taking a beating, well......they still got more from me than they would have received from the underbidder.

I could go on ::blah:: ::blah:: ::blah:: about the games played at the live auctions I attend, but that's another day's story.

Don't worry Rem, I don't want a knife roll.

My only regrets is that I often use the software to make a bid with 5 seconds left. I do regret having to do that to fellow members and friends on AAPK who are unaware that I made a high bid several days before. Basically it's a new level of sniping, the software bids for me. I guess I feel bad about the members that have no idea what we are doing with the cyber-sniping.

It does work both ways, there are a couple guys who use this software also and I loose to them. AND my software never makes a bid, because the bid is higher than I put in. We know who we are and do laugh about it and we remain friends, because we already know how they won and happy to see a fellow member has won..

The part I don't like is that some members have lost to me, don't know I use software and I try not to bid against fellow members. Even though I put a bid in a week earlier than the final day, not everyone has undersood and some have gotten mad. There is no reason for that.

So, for some it looks like a conflict, but really it is not, I only put software bids when I will not be home or I'm out in the shop.

No roll for me either............but then aga.........Just kidding.

I know the idiots that make those cheapskate bids, (great for revenge, because everyone has bidding habits that are easily deteched). Sniping is the only way to fight it. EBay is set up for sniping, even if they put a quite rule in there, there will still be last minute snipers.

too bad ebay couldnt set it up,where 30 seconds are added to time if a bid is made in the last 30 seconds.Seems like it might be more like a real auction.
