This Robeson TL-29 has a somewhat abused blade, but both snap like a gator.

This Camillus fixed blade is well used, but it's a got a great tang stamp and bone handles.

This is my favorite of the bunch, a great old Imperial.

Went to the North Star Blade Collectors meeting to buy the Catt. King of the Woods, and he wanted me to adopt a few of his friends. The Hawkbill is a Holley, the horn cattle is a Remington, the harness is an early Winchester, the 3 whittlers are all Cattaraugus. These are ones I passed on last month. I could have used a few more dollars both times. ___Dave

Thanks, I was quite lucky to find these. Usually, it's overpriced and overused junk.

Don't tell anyone, but knife prices are still pretty good up here in the Northwoods. The dealer knocked about $40 off the package. The big Catt. doesn't have a name stamped into the tang and we really can't see why (maybe a factory second or something) but it does have Catt's. pattern number on the back tang (12839) and it's missing the folding guard, so he gave it to me for $150. This area is a great place to buy knives, but a lousy place to sell them. These and the 10 I bought from the same dealer last month were from a collection he bought from the family of a former club member who passed away a couple years ago, so the whole thing is a little bitter sweet. We had another son of a member that passed away last week come in today and ask for help selling his Dad's collection. Dave

Regional differences are pretty large. In my part of the world, knife shows, knife clubs and flea markets DO NOT EXIST. Not for hundreds of miles. The closest knife show that would be practical for me to attempt is in Eugene, Oregon a LONG day's drive @ 80 mph. No one here is familiar with the word flea market. A knife is something Chinese at Home Depot. On the other hand we have GUN shows on a regular basis. You can buy most anything firearm related @ the modest rate of 300% of worth.

Our closest actual knife show is Wisconsin's show, and we travel 6 hours to get to it and buy until we are pretty well out of available cash, and then get up in the morning and travel 6 hours home. When you do it once, it's hard not to make the trip after. Some of our club members from Minneapolis go to the Eugene show, and drive to it so they don't have to ship their purchases. That show is supposedly way better than the Janesville Wi. show. ___Dave

This weekend was the first I have really felt decent in a while. I was able to get a bunch of yardwork done around the house, and was able to get to the flea market this morning. Around 30deg. when I got up, but it did warm up to almost 70 today. Here's my haul...

The pearl is a Providence Cutlery, Germany. The black scout is a sword brand Camillus. The Puma is nice, but missing the shield. The Laguiole needs new covers. The boker is my favorite of the bunch.
