SWEET.what brand and caliber?

The upper is by AR Stoner, the Lower is Anderson, the butt stock is UTG, internals are from DPMS, I forget who made the mil-dot scope, the caliber is 5.56/223 rem.
These are modular rifles and there are dozens of companies making parts for them.

I came very close to disassembling a Car-15 and sending the barrel/forearm and stock assemblies home, so I could build a semiautomatic one on an AR-15 receiver.

Such weapons with short barrels and collapsible stocks were not available to the public at the time, I don't think.

Didn't do it. Glad I didn't.

I'd probably have gotten out of Leavenworth by now, though.

Back last November I got one of those Springfield XDs 45 acp pistols and I love the thing. Real accurate, soft shooting and dead reliable. It has a 3.3 inch barrel and comes with a flush 5 round mag that'll let it slide down in my pocket, and an extended 6 round mag.

It came with a mail in rebate thing good for some free goodies so of course I sent it in. This week the box came, lol. They sent me a two pistol soft range bag, a two mag holder to wear on your belt, and two mags! One of the mags is the flush 5 round mag but the other was a 7 round mag which gives the little gun a full size grip.

These Springfield folks are impressing me.

Thanks Steve. I changed out the back straps for the thinner one and loaded up the 7 round mag. She sure shoots nice with that big ol mag and the thin strap.

traditions .50. It's not an expensive gun but shoots true and is a load of fun and for $80 with 2 lbs of powder ya can't beat it.

That sounds like a great deal! I on,y ever shot one once, and it was a 50 cal traditions I believe. I agree very fun. Now you've got me thinking. Hmmmm

Art Isaacson of Art's Gun Shop restoring a Browning A5. I haven't ever sent anything to him, but he seems to be highly recommended on a shotgun forum I frequent - Shotgunworld.com. I think he also does warranty work for Browning. (I have no affiliation with him).

I have my Dad's 1924 Remington Model 11 (the first real gun I ever shot). He bought it used sometime in the 1970s. It still shoots, but is in pretty rough shape. I have can't decide whether to keep it original or send it off to Art and let him restore it.

It had been a while since I had went to the rifle range and even longer since the SKS had been shot. This one is a Chinese made copy. Remember when they went for 90 bucks? About 1992 I think. The only change was to put on a grown up stock. The other is an old Model 12C Remington with the straight stock. A variation from the standard 12 C that usually has a pistol grip. Great old 22's.

Steve, that's about what I paid for my SKS and about the time I bought it, give or take a few years. Sorry, no pictures but it's just your standard run-of-the-mill SKS.

......finally got to go shoot my henry civil war reproduction .44-40 yesterday-35 yds is as far away as we can place a target, shot 15 rds-14 holes in target, about 4" spread, one of the 3 bullseyes was a double!!.....79 yr. old eyeballs and "arn" sights!!...target get's smaller every time I shoot, now!!!............ ..................

I feel your pain Tommy. If I can see the target, I can't see the sights. If I can see the sights, I can't see the target.

Royal, after the 2006 flood, I had a five gallon bucket full of ammunition (various calibers) that was picked up by a the police and sent to be destroyed. The ammo may have been okay but I didn't trust it.

I once had a Chinese SKS that shot better (tighter) than one buddies Russian and anothers Yugo.
Of course it's long since gone.

I'm going hog and turkey hunting this weekend on a friend's lease out around Junction, TX with some of my old High School buddies. The place is several thousand acres out in the middle of nowhere. No cell phone service. It has been a few years since we have been out there, and I am really looking forward to it. They landowner has a shooting range set up - it's pretty rustic but a lot of fun. Last time we were up there we shot clays, paper targets, cans, etc. all day long with a variety of shotguns, rifles and pistols. I have my truck loaded up with some of my hardware, and they all bring a pile too. My buddy killed a big ol' 240 lb hog last time we were there - I think there are pics somewhere back earlier in the "Outdoorsman" thread. I will try to post some pics next week.

The only downside is having to clean a pile of guns when I get back home.

got the sights tuned in on my new/used cap'n'ball revolver yesterday. I was still tinkering with the windage a little on this group, but it's still a good group I think

That looks like pretty good shootin' to me MM. I've not shot a BP revolver but I know the flintlock rifles throw off some serious smoke. Would imagine in a repeater it would be more of a challenge.

Fat Boy and Little Man.
Just picked up this SIG P938 9MM. 7 +1. 3 inch barrel. Not a small gun guy but fills a niche.
SIG 220 10MM weighs in at 44.4 ounces loaded. Really like it as my primary carry. Carry IWB and does actually hide well for its size. what a great shooter and of course packs a big punch. Thought the P938 in 9MM will be a good fit for backup carry or other application yet TBD.
Carrying SIG 124 grain JHP for the 9mm. Mixed bag on the 10MM mags. BUFFALO BORE 185 grain, SIG 185 grain JHP and one mag of RIP 125 grain. See second pic center for RIP pic. The RIP is over 2 bucks a round, opinions vary on the round itself. Prefer to decide on my own.
