I was liking the Camp Knife until I saw it was 4.83" long. That's a BIG knife. Wish they made it around 3 5/8", that's about perfect for me. Darn!!

I hope the 4.83 is not a typo. With hands like a pound of pork sausages, that fits nicely. Love large knives.

Re: New #98 Pattern
I've stayed away from GEC for the most part because I don't like little knives, and most (not all) their offerings are just way to small for these big mitts.
But this one may just win me over. Wow! I like what I see here.

This knife is going to be a beast of a pocket carry, I foresee a lot of belt sheaths being utilized. Count me in for the Texas Camp Knife, I've been wanting to have a big GEC folder for up at camp and this knife fits the bill perfectly.
I'm hopeful we see a smaller variation of the camp knife as well, but this one is gonna call my name!!!

Hey Johnny, hope all is well with you and yours ... I like the larger sized knives myself, and since I wear suspenders everyday, I'm gonna' look into a shoulder holster LOL!johnny twoshoes wrote:This knife is going to be a beast of a pocket carry, I foresee a lot of belt sheaths being utilized. Don, I've been doing just fine!
Good to see you again my friend, I hope you are doing well yourself!
I don't see the Texas camp knife on the site anymore, I wonder if they are still planning on bringing it out?

johnnytwoshoes I called them and yes they are going to make them . They should be available about mid April . We had a bad phone connection , so I couldn't really get any details on the different scales they will have or anything else .
I'm really looking forward to a GEC Scout Knife !

Thank you so much Leggo!!!
I was starting to worry it wasn't going to happen. Even though it's a lot bigger then I expect a scout Knife to be I really want one!

Re: New #98 Pattern
You're very welcome J2Shoes ! I hear ya...I think it should be about an inch shorter. I hope they make some smooth bone ones different colors ,( I like colors on knives ) a nice black Buffalo horn one. The blue camel bone like on the Ben Hogans I think would be nice.Maybe they will get some feedback about the size and make smaller ones later. I'd like one with a flat blade and a Phillips head screwdriver and a sheeps foot blade ,awl and can and bottle opener with a bale.

Re: New #98 Pattern
Leggo, nothing wrong with a little color in your collection!!!
The smooth bone is growing on me. I recently picked up a primitive bone #73 and a smooth beavertail #73 in I believe smooth ivory bone.

Love that smooth bone. Mine came in today and I am overwhelmed, large knife but man is it done well. GEC really knocked it out of the park. One of the pictures is with a Case Grand Daddy Barlow which is slightly bigger.
