I don't have this knife anymore but it is a German Bingham.

Nice, those look like they could be used for murder.thefarside wrote:Attached is a photo of the knife with the Bingham etch. The tang stamp is W. Bingham Germany. This knife is very similar in construction to a Boker I have in the same pattern. The second photo shows three knives stamped W. Bingham Cleveland O. and these are older and produced in the USA.

Re: Vintage Acid Etched & Stamped Blades
Here is my Bingham with the BBB etch i mentioned above: 3 7/16" Pearl, Equal End Pen, both blade tangs stamped: W.Bingham(arch)/Co./Cleveland.
As you can see, this BBB etch is different from the BBB etch shown in a previous post.

Re: Vintage Acid Etched & Stamped Blades
LG4 lists W. Bingham as USA hardware/wholesaler 1840-1930. Could it be than the German Binghams are not connected to the original Bingham business, that someone used this branding (with or without authorization) at a latter date for knives they were having made in Germany ? For example, Mr. Parker did this many times with well known but defunct brand names.
Or, are the German Binghams part of the original business ?

Here's a Wade & Butcher with "XCD" (exceed?) stamp and some gnarly stag.
A Shapleigh with Diamond Edge etch.
A couple of pics of a E.C. Simmons Keen Kutter with a faint "Keen Kutter" etch.
And finally 2 pics of another Simmons Keen Kutter with a little brighter etch.

That last Keen Kutter also has a small etch on the back of the blade with the model number. I have never seen that before.

Really like those Keen Kutters, Unk! Saw two KKs with the etched pattern number, bought one of them. Beautiful NYKC, Roger, thanks for taking and posting the photos.

Re: Vintage Acid Etched & Stamped Blades
Lots of beautiful etches for sure from all -
...
But Mike that Henry Sears & Sons etch of 1865 really trips my trigger for multiple reasons, the maker stamp and a harness jack as well
... just a nice old knife!!
