Short Line Camillus 72 meets Bullwinkle

I took this First Gen. Camillus 72 and tried to rehab it.

There was no handle on the other side. Someone had abused this knife to the max. The spear and coping blades were bent real bad. Scaring on the tangs show this. Lots of rust and corrosion. As I tried to crink the coping blade back toward normal the dang blade broke. I had another short line 72 with a bad master blade, so I replaced the broken blade with one of the good ones. As luck would have it, the doner knife was a second gen and the coping blade is made to nest next to the master. Which meant that I had to replace the spear with the small clip from the 2nd gen. 72, for everything to work right. Except for a small crack in the moose antler on one scale below the pivot pin it came out nice.

I have been filling the crack with CA. Another application or two should stop it from expanding. I showed up about an hour after I put the knife together. Oh well, it could have worse. Considering how this one was DOA I am more than happy with how it turned out. Thanks for looking

Glenn is right, it is out of the norm. I have a couple I am doing now that are outside the norm too, because I get tired of doing the same thing all the time.

It is good to see that someone else likes to do things a bit outside the box.

Thanks guys! Dale I love using materials that don't get used often. That chunk of moose horn was a fluke. However I love the stuff and I am almost out of it. I have a Higonokami Japanese friction folder that I am going to introduce to Bullwinkle next.
