Another Camillus Lockback... In White Tail Stag

I had so much fun with the Moose antler on that 1306 lockback, that when I got my hands on some stag I cut some slabs and fit them to another 1306. I think I have 3 or 4 more of these. This one turned out nice.

I can't believe how different the two lockbacks are. The stag handled one is hefty, thick and would carry well in a belt sheath. The Moose handled one is thin, light and would ride well in the pocket. And when seen side by side they are both rugged and attractive knives. Cant wait to acquire some more antler and horn. I think I want to build my self an assortment to display.

Thanks guys! SteelMyHeart85420 I may post how I cut and fit handles when I get better at it. Mostly hit and miss for now. But I am making fewer mistakes these days. I have been splitting the tines down the middle and grinding them down to the right thickness. But I find that that creates lots throwaways. I am finally starting to understand the process necessary to cut without all the waste. Besides I find that if I cut slabs from the edge them I have the center cuts for creating polished stag. I haven't got there yet, but soon! when I get it figured out I will post my method.

Thanks Mike. After years of not knowing what to do with these frames I have some materials that I like on them. I feel real good about it because I just started working on knives about a year and half ago.

I like that Mike! I am retiring from the work force in two months. After my spinal surgery 3 months ago I don't need to beat my self up anymore. I work as a custodian at a local elementary school. I do plan on working on knives after retirement. I plan on calling my knife business Boarhard knives with the number 57 mark on the tang. Since I always work on older knives the 57 will be cold struck over the existing tang stamp. Boarhard is the translation of my last name, Everhart. Translated from Danish!

Man Randy, you sure are doing a good job on thosw knives. I will get in the shop hopefully this week. I worked in a school system for 26 years. Operated a one man print shop. I was responsible for printing most of their printing needs.

Hey Keith, wow a printing shop? We had a print shop when I was in high school. I worked in it all through high school. Type set, off set and tri color offset. Man that takes me back... That's cool. Thanks man!

Offset press, yeah, I ran one for 26 years. Was still working great when I retired. I done anything from single color to 4 color process on the offset press. I done all the paper work for 7 schools and two office buildings.

I remember working in the school print shop Keith. This takes me way back! Thank you! Well after being back at work for a week I have decided to retire. Don't really want to, just have to. This week beat me up to much. Now I have to get busy in the knife shop and start making some money. I am surprised that after 20+ years my retirement benefits are so small... Oh well maybe I can catch up on all the fishing that I have been missing!
